- Namco Bandai announced it has acquired the license to release Dragon Ball games worldwide for 5 years from January 2010.
- All Nippon Amusement Machine Operators Union announced the AOU Show 2010 will take place in Tokyo Makhhari Messe on February 19 - 20, 2010.
- Namco Bandai's Tekken 6 director Katsuhiro Harada mentioned that unlockable characters feature found in its arcade games will no longer work in home version, it is outdated particularly in online games, because it would irritate people who play online against others and not all characters are available. As a result, the PS3 and Xbox 360 version of Tekken 6 will have all 40 characters playable right at the start.

- Sony Computer Entertainment will have a Business Meeting in Japan in Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka between July 7 - 10, 2009, which will cover recent and upcoming PS3/PSP titles, including 428, Minna no Sukkiri, Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny, Tales of Vesperia, Tales of VS. and more.
- Koei Tecmo will release the PS3 action game Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 in Japan on October 1, 2009. The PS3 version will have several new features but less blood than the Xbox 360 version of Ninja Gaiden 2.
- Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported that Sony plans to strengthens PS3 game development in Taiwan, the company plans to working with Ministry of Trade & Industry to support developers financially.
- RUMOR: Joystiq reported that two Taiwanese firms Foxconn and Pegatron have signed manufacturing deal with Sony, to build Sony's new slimline PS3. The units are expected to start shipping in early July to cope with expected summer vacation demands.
- Sony announced that the Japanese online server for MotorStorm will be switched off by the end of July 2009, Sony advices fans of the game to switch to MotorStorm II, which will be supported continuously.

- Capcom announced the development of Monster Hunter 3-tri for Wii has been completed, the game will be released in Japan on August 1, 2009, a celebration festival will be held soon.
- Enterbrain revealed that 1,900 copies copies of EA's EA Sports Grand Slam Tennis were sold in Japan for the first day, which is 20% of shipment.

- Namco Bandai released a preview trailer of its newly announced PSP four player action RPG God Eater, which is said to be a modern version of Monster Hunter Portable. God Eater will be released in fall 2009.
- SonyInsider reported that the PSP Go full processor speed will be at 480MHz, which is 40% faster than the 333MHz processor found in the original PSP. It is unclear whether the additional processing power will be used in games.
- Namco Bandai will release Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny for PSP in Japan on August 27, 2009.

- Sony confirmed that the PSP development kit price has been reduced by 80%, to broaden scope of programs for PSP Go, which includes non-gaming applications.
