- Nintendo posted a quarterly profit of 191.6 billion yen (US$2.13 billion), fell by 23% from last year; sales have declined by 20% from 1.53 trillion yen (US$16.99 billions) to 1.18 trillion yen (US$13.05 billion), which was caused by price cut of Wii.

- Square Enix producer Yoshinori Kiatse mentioned that the American and Europe version of Final Fantasy XIII will possibly have DLC. The team had considered DLC during game develoment but it was dropped in favor to complete the game; however it is possible to offer DLC later in the year.
- Famitsu posted an annual review of the console market in Japan in the year, 70% of dealers said the holiday shopping season was just as good or better than 2008. Certain dealer thinks games that appeal to everyone move the most hardware, such as New Super Mario Bros. Wii and PokePark Wii. Nintendo was able to sell its hardware to people of all ages, advertisement of friends and family enjoy playing togeter was more effective than one thought. One dealer also noted that sales of PS3 have tripped after the release of Final Fantasy XIII.
