- Here are some new screens of Square Enix's tactical RPG Front Mission 2089: Border of Madness, the NDS version will have new character designs, scenarios, characters and stories not found in the mobile phone version.

- Square Enix president Yoichi Wada said that development of Dragon Quest IX for NDS is mostly completed, but they will not rush the game to the market, they want to refine the game balance. This is important because the game has a multi-player mode for the first time.

- Enterbrain has postponed the release date of the horse racing simulation game Derby Stallion DS from March to June 2008.

- Vivarium, maker of the Seaman series, will release the simulation game The Tower DS in Japan in summer 2008.

- Suda 51 of Grasshopper mentioned that the Wii action game No More Heroes was originally developed for Xbox 360, but the platform was changed to Wii after the team learned how the Wii controller works and thought it was a better choice.

- Microsoft announced the Xbox 360 Arcade pack will be released in Japan on March 6, 2008, for 27,800 yen. This bundle will replace the Core System, and the Arcade Bundle will include a Xbox 360 with HDMI connector, controller, Composite AV cable, 256MB Memory Unit, Xbox Live Arcade Disc with Pac-Man Championship Edition, Luxor 2, Uno, Boom Boom Rocket and Feeding Frenzy.

- Microsoft will release Poker Smash for Xbox Live Arcade on February 6, 2008, for 800 Microsoft points.

- Sony announced PlayStation 3 The Best [PS3 Greatest Hits] series in Japan, five games will be re-released on March 19, 2008 for 3800 yen each, including:

  • Ninja Gaiden Sigma (Tecmo)
  • Ridge Racer 7 (Bandai Namco)
  • Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire (Bandai Namco)
  • FolksSoul: Ushinawareta Denshou (Sony)
  • Resistance: Fall of Man (Sony)

- Square Enix will release a new music album Drammatica: The Very Best of Yoko Shimomura in Japan on March 26, 2008, for 3000 yen. The album will include a collection of orchestra music from Front Mission, Seiken Densetsu and Kingdom Hearts series, plus a bonus song from Final Fantasy Versus XIII for PS3.

- SCE announced there will be a Dealer Meeting in Japan on February 5, 6 and 8, the event will be for retailers only, current and upcoming lineup for PS3, PS2 and PSP will be displayed.

- Square Enix president Yoichi Wada said that the company will produce more games for Wii in future.

- Enterbrain reported that over 500,000 copies of Super Smash Bros. Brawl were sold in Japan, but there were defective discs reported by customers. After investigations the cause was dirty laser reader in Wii; the game is on a dual layer disc and Wii cannot read the disc if the laser head is dirty.

- EA confirmed that the music game Rock Band will appear on Wii. The game has already sold 1.5 million copies in US.

- Here are some new screens of 2K Sports and PAM's tennis sports game Top Spin 3, the game will be available on Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii in spring 2008.

- Here are some new screens of Eidos and Crystal Dynamics' Tomb Raider Underworld, the game will be heading to all platforms in Q4 2008.

- Capcom has sold 170,000 copies of Devil May Cry 4 on January 31 in Japan; PS3 version has sold 140,000 copies and Xbox 360 version has sold 30,000 copies.

- EA CEO John Riccitello confirmed that a new Lord of the Rings game is in development, the game will be released within the 2008 fiscal year, which ends on March 31, 2009.

- EA announced the cartoon action game The Simpsons: The Game has sold over 4 million copies worldwide across all platforms.

- Here are the estimated first three day sales of new console games in Japan between Jan 31 - Feb 2, 2008:

  • Super Smash Bros. Brawl (Wii) - 940,000
  • Devil May Cry 4 (PS3) - 210,000
  • Devil May Cry 4 (X360) - 45,000
  • Suzumiya Haruhi no Tomadoi (PS2) - 92,000
  • Tales of Destiny Director's Cut (PS2) - 130,000
  • Disgaea 3 / Limited Edition (PS3) - 70,000
  • Family Ski (Wii) - 10,000
  • Assassin's Creed (PS3) - 32,000

- SCE's SN Systems has cut the price of the PSP development tools by 50%, which includes a range of tools like ProDG, Tuner, Build Tools, and ProView licenses.

- Atlus will release a US version of the 2D fighting game Arcana Heart in April 2008.
