I do. Make it easy and convenient to use with real translators. You have got to remember that scanalators all work from remote locations, they don't even collaborate in the same fucking office and these Viz guys, work in the office, are on the payroll, and make and provide sub-par content at stupid prices.
Think about what the LA times is trying to do. They are trying to survive in a paperless world, I may not agree with how they are going about it since, i read the paper regularly, but it's something. Viz should bring these guys in as consultants and honestly ask what they are doing wrong and how they can make it work better. Just the menu of the site alone is annoying. As for a payment model, well, how much is the convenience worth to you? I pay 16 dollars a month for Netflix ( i don't use really) and Hulu Plus(use frequently). If they can charge a reasonable price to read their older back log of manga and another premium price to read their newer hit manga. There are so many ways to think about this, I don't understand why they make it so difficult and are behind in the manga. Just blows me away that a group of dudes who operate remotely via the internet can come up with a timed schedule every week and provide content better than a corporation. Am I fucking crazy here? Bottom Line: I would pay 5-10 dollars a month to read the new hit manga every week. Remember jump Weekly jumps are like 5 bucks a pop, and I don't read every manga in there I only read Bleach really, and One Peace sometimes, so honestly paying 5-10 bucks a month for a few manga is far more reasonable. So I went over it again, so they want 25.99 annually for the new shit that lasts for a year. Admittedly, that is not half bad really and cheaper than what I proposed. All they need to work out are the kinks and meeting proper deadlines, matter of fact, I have 25 bucks, I'm going to try it. http://www.vizmanga.com/reader/681 I still think they can do better by offering a bigger catalog that is already out there on the internet.

Hmm, that's actually not terrible. But only 5 manga is pretty paultry. Why wouldn't you include all of the jump manga? Hell, some of the best ones aren't even included, it's just the big 3, Bakumen, Nurahyden and Toriko. Where's Ippo? Where's hitman reborn? Where's Medaka Box?
All in all, it's about 50 cents a week. If they had the manga I was most interested in from Jump, I would probably pay that. It's a step in the right direction though. Does Viz have the license to all jump manga or just those few?

Unless you want a pirate copy you can't it's never been released on DVD officially. Though someone released picked up Galaxy Express 999 for a DVD release in the US so maybe this'll be on the cards later as it's already in English on VHS.

Are you sure that the DVD that is titled "Fire Force DNA Sights 999.9" is not the official release on DVD? Most people would list that as its other title on youtube, and even on Amazon.com, and by the way, I checked that out and it wasn't worth it. The subtitles are in both Japanese and Italian.

That's why I didn't mention it because it's an Italian version.
Seems like that's the only country outside Japan it's been released the original release for America on VHS was by Urban Vision/CPM they have long since gone out of business.

I think it is licensing issues. It doesn't make sense to include some of WSJ and not all of it. I think they can make better plans that involve their back catalog would be amazing, I would def pay for that. Oh and the service WSJ alpha is kinda meh, but you know I have 25 bucks. I will stop reading bakuman on scanlators and let these guys catch up, but not bleach, fuck that.

But here's what I don't understand. If this movie never got a DVD release in the United States, then how come it got on DVD in Italian?

Maybe it sold poorly in the US and they couldn't be bothered to release it on DVD. Maybe CPM went tits up before they could? don't know there are some anime' releases on DVD in the UK etc that aren't on DVD in the US. Different companies release different things. I know Italy has way more Detective Conan on DVD then in the US for example as it's way more popular. The UK company MVM have just announced Broken Blade and Mayo Chiki! for the UK but I don't think there coming to the US yet either for example.

In a nutshell. Starts off as a battle/ helper club manga, something happened in real life to the mangaka, I don't know what, and the last 100 chapters have been a rather scathing glimpse into why the author thinks Jump publications are bullshit and should be abolished for endorsing simplistic plots that everyone can see coming and how JUMP places more emphasis on popularity polls then good stories.
It has been FASCINATING to read.

Ok i'll give it a read tonight. Things is, I figured bakuman did a pretty good job of spelling out how Jump publication works, however, the ones that are characterized as the "villains" sound a lot like the author of Medaka as you described him. I understand the complaint a lot of international fans have about manga, it does get old, but you have to remember, who their target audience truly is, it definitely isn't a 30 year old black guy (me).
