Hasn't this argument/discussion been done to death on this thread yet?
Anyway, regarding this thread, I wonder if we should have two anime threads: one for ongoing/upcoming anime (Bleach, Naruto, One Piece etc.) and one for completed/recommended anime. |

There is a clear difference between cartoon and animation. The term cartoon as we know it is misused. Cartoon is just humorous drawing with a caption and they are generally used to satirize some public figure. Warner Bro, MGM and Disney first used the term cartoon when they created 5 ? 10 minutes short animation from the 1930?s until the 1960?s . Since then people started calling them cartoon instead of animated cartoons.

I guess I'll give Puni Puni Poemi a shot, sounds interesting. The suggestion for Hundred Stories sounds good too, I like the shorter series length so I have no problems trying it out.
Patlabor is a series I've really wanted to watch for a long time. I saw a slew of episodes back in the early '90s and it has always been in the back of my mind as a show worth watching. I love the fact that they hardly used the robots in the episodes I did see, it was more about the characters themselves. I guess my only concern is the series length, but then again, if I enjoy a show then the more eps the better. If anyone has any other suggestions let me know, and please try to follow the guidlines I posted earlier. I'm looking for diamonds in the rough (in your opinion)! Shows I will start watching (in order): 1. Puni Puni Poemi 2. Hundred Stories 3. Patlabor 1st OAV set |

find GaoGaiGar and then the OVA GGG: Final
Its awesome! and like you want a long series its 50 episodes and the OVA is 7 episodes Its a awesome action mecha series, from takara the creator of Tranformers. Cyborg Gai is the main character, he had his body destoryed in some freak accident which is still covered in mystery. He combines with this alien robot called Galleon which is in a form of a Lion, and becomes GaiGar and later with the Gao Machines he becomes GaoGaiGar the King of Braves. The Characters in this are awesome and a very deep plot. Wait till you see the ending to it, its insane in all catagories! the OVA is insane in action, holy crap I watched it like 50 times it was soooo good.
