Rumor (of the Higest Level): Resident Evil 4 PS2 bound?

Ok... I haven't seen any news about this, but I was surprised to find that on the FilePlanet.com E3 trailer listing that Resident Evil 4 is listed as coming out on the PS2, don't believe me, well....

Well that's interesting. Hard to think it look like anything on PS2 hardware side by side the GCN's. So is there a article examplaing why it's listed as a PS2 game or can this be a simply type-o?

Edit So anyway, I looked at the trailer (on IGN's site) and it's says GCN. So while I was there I looked to see if there been some kind of RE4 version for the PS2 now and this is what I got.

I would say type-o, but... well.. they kinda have to type that stuff out you know... so, who knows maybe GameSpy got a little dish on something that hasn't been announced yet... though I'm like you Reality... I don't see how the PS2 could even compare with the GC's graphics... I'd understand the XBOX, because there wouldn't be much of a strain to port it over, but... still thats why I said, this is a High Level Rumor...

Well really I would of said the same thing except that, this is gamespy and they rarely make types but theres a first time for everything I guess. Then again... who knows, with the way things have been for Nintendo lately...

I can't imagine the game coming to the PS2. PS3? Yeah, but not PS2.

would be good for PS2 only fans but I'd stick with the GC version for obvious reasons. I'd like to see an XB version though...

As of right now, it just looks like another false rumor started by Sony to try and damage Nintendo's reputation in the gaming industry. Sony's good at doing that sort of thing, especially when they get jealous.

Personally, I hope it's a type-o.... this is been a great week for Nintendo, it would drag it down a good bit for them to lose RE4 seeing as right now it looks like it will be the Gamecube's forerunner for Game of the Year.

I highly doubt it was a rumor fueled with malice and not just someone misinterpreting a reading.

Sony is very clever - they actually can make certain websites/mags say certain things that are false in order to try and harm Nintendo/Microsoft. It's rather obvious; you don't hear the same thing happening with PS2 software, do you? I sure as hell don't. That's saying something.

If Sony was responcible, I would hardly think they were clever. Stealing candy from a baby without the mother noticing is clever. This affected what? A handful of gamers who will be confused until they realize that everyone else, including Capcom, says it's a Gamecube exclusive?

I can't prove it, but I bet the rumor was either a) started by some poor poor fanboy or, b) started by a mistranslation/typo.

No it's not. Look at how fast this got covered here alone. And you've got to think about how many thousands of people view that website, see that RE4 is supposedly coming to PS2 and go "Wow! No need to get a GC!" because there are a lot of gullable people out there. Just look at how many people bought Enter the Matrix for PS2.
