Skies of Arcadia cancelled for PS2

It's a bit sad that this awesome RPG isn't coming to the PS2 anymore. For those who never played the DC version. I'd really recommend getting a Gamecube if you haven't yet or plan to yet, just to play this game with all the new stuff they're putting into it. Excellent game and not to be missed.

Its in japanese, but basically says it.

I think I heard about canceling the PS2 version several months ago, and that the next Skies of Acardia will also be on GC.

The Gamecube was the first to be announced that the game was going to. Later the PS2 was said to get a version. But oly as of today was it officially said its cancelled.

If you want to look up reviews you can do that at any games site. Like IGN or Gamespot or a dozen others. Just check in the Dreamcast section.

i don't remember Sega saying anything about the next SOA

well outside of the usual rumor from Gc sites (which have rumors for almost any popular game under the sun, MGS, VF4, etc)

Sega mentioned they plan to make a sequel, but not sure if they are working on it or plan to in the future. And most likely it'll be on the GC since the team that make SOA are centred on developing for the GC. I guess they may see how the sales for SOA go before they decide where the sequel goes.

According to Magic Box, the Gamecube version has quite a bit of extras. Not enough for me to buy the same game twice, but enough to entice more avid RPG fans.

I believe that the cancellation was due to diffulty to port the game over the PS2. But i'm only speculating really.

SOA is a really beautiful and memorable RPG. Those who never played that game on DC should definitly give a try.

Can't wait for sequel.

Too many competition on PS2, besides that, Skies of Arcadia is an old game.

I didn't see that stopping people looking forward to the old FF rereleases. Why is it ok for them to look forward to those and not SOA? I find it silly. SOA is one of the best rpgs made in years. IF you haven't played it, do so. Saying its a couple years old is not a good excuse. This is one of those games you shouldn't miss out on.

Besides, if you had planned to grab it for the PS2, then that should tell you that you should get it for GC. Game is excellent.
