Rare going multiplatform.
I read PSM, on two pages mention rare on PS2, one says they've had devkits for months, the other in the + and - section of PSM listed Perfect Dark Zero as a + for PS2, OXM on a page has an article informing us Rare has had Xbox Devkits for months this article also mentions Perfect Dark Zero, Rare has not denied any of this nor has it said a single word about this, which in this industery usual means it's true we're just not allowed to comment on it, now this doesn't mean Rare won't develop for GC as I wouldn't believe that in a mintue Rare and Nintendo have a great relationship, but I see no reason why Nintendo would care if Rare wants to take the franciases they created and have them go multiplatform, Rare is one if not the top development studio in existance, these are the titles rare owns, Perfect Dark, Conkers, BattleToads, Banjo + ?, Killer Instinct, Kameo: Elements of Power.
frankly this is massively good news for both PS2 and Xbox, moreso for Xbox however as this is a major player to set up and bring it's games to the power of the box. The PSM in question is Issue 60, July 2002, on the cover in the lower in a yellow it clearly states "Rare's first PS2 game: Perfect Dark 2?" The OXM in question I dont know what issue or month it is but it has Superman on it. the article is located on the buttom left hand side |

I wouldn't look at anything that isn't straight from Nintendo or Rare themselves. LAst week Rare said they weren't doing anything for anyone else at the moment. That magazine isn't Sony themselves talking. So I wouldn't pay any attention to it.

if two different magazines for two different platforms say the same exact thing i'm inclined to believe it, and as for the post card when have we known rare to be honest about any thing they do? as for not believing it i'm sorry the way it works is if it wasn't true they would of offcial announced it wasn't true they have not done that, if you can post a link to anything recent from the offcial rare site that says there not developing on Xbox and PS2 go ahead but if you think there silence means there not then your wrong, Xbox & PS2 are the perfect places for PD:0 & a new harsher better looking Conkers, I know Rare will always have a good relationship with Nintendo, therefor there's always going to be Rare on the Nintendo platform, there is a ton of difference between a postcard with these systems pictured on it and Rare purchasing DEV KITS, both these publications say they have dev kits which is really weird if there not using them period.

Sorry but, Killer Instinct and Banjo Kazooie are copyrighted to Nintendo, so ultamitely, Nintendo owns them.

i have post about this in many other boards
Rare doesn't own Killer Instinct anything else u mention above are probably owned by Rare (Banjo series, i'm not sure though) i'm positive Rare owns Perfect dark Conker gemini something or rather (my mind is muddy, hehe, sorry) Killer Instinct, Diddky Kong, and other Nintendo related IPs (StarFox) is owned by Nintendo and i have no comment on Rare, let them speak about it themselves ![]() -aneep- |

your morons, Killer Instinct is wholy owned and developed by Rare, Nintendo & Rare have a good working relationship but thinking that Nintendo owns Rares property is just idiotic. you people talk like you think Nintendo owns Rare which in fact they don't Rare is an independant developer who is allowed to use Nintendos characters, everything Rare has developed without Nintendo characters in it is wholly owned by Rare Ltd. thank you I'll be fallowing this post up with a link to the complete history of Rare so I can dispel all your myths

My friend b0b, you are not making any friends from the way you are acting. Sadly I can't find the actual article where the person from Rare is asked about the multiplatform thing and denied, but I can give you other stuff.
http://www.cube-europe.com/newsphp/news.php?id=1161 Thats the best I can give for now and probably all you should need as that is from the OFFICIAL Nintendo magazine. At least I assume so since I've never read it cause its in a different country. Every couple months Rare is in the news denying this or that. Remember how they all said Activision had just grabbed Rare and was publishing their games? Then a little later Rare came out and quote, Rare said the rumours were "a load of old cobblers". This is another bit for the "Killer Instinct" thing. Killer Instinct 3 was being developed by Rare for Gamecube but RareOps recently received word back from Leigh Loveday of Rareware, denying the game is in development. Anyway, ignore your magazines unless Rare or Nintendo say otherwise. Its that simple. |

Anyway, perhaps you know more than I do; but, Rare has denied this thing no less than three times. Still, the rumors live on though- as rumors tend to.
If they did buy dev kits, it could just be too see the power of the systems they're up against. It could be anything. Maybe they enjoy keeping the rest of the world confused. I've started and posted many threads on the Rare issue, and my suggestion is to just wait and see. Maybe they will develop for other platforms, maybe they won't. Getting into an argument over the issue is silly.

i seriously have a problem when someone just can't check for themselves wether Rare own this or that before saying they do i checked them again , peruse at your leisure Rare owns (well most of the items in the list) from http://tess.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?...h=Submit+Query Quote:
now on to Killer Instinct from here http://tess.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?...te=iakfpu.3.43 Quote:
if the trademark is owned by Rare, it would look something like this from http://tess.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?...te=iakfpu.4.10 Quote:
