I was wondering if anyone knows whether the PAL(UK) version of MGS2 is slower than the US and Japanese versions.

If there's no difference I'll get the UK version then cause it comes with a bonus CD.....wohoo!

My friend at work was playing it a few month back. Doesn't seem different to me. But don't you need a PAl TV to play it?

This is Konami we're talking about, not Capcom. Konami's ports are perfect. There is no slow down. Both region versions are identical.

While yes,generally speaking, Konami's conversions are almost flawless, there still is the matter of FMVs. You will notice in games like Winning Eleven (Evo Pro Soccer) or even Silent Hill 2 that the FMV videos are actually a little choppy when converted to PAL format. The game itself is fine, though the choppyness if the FMVs is a bit annoying.

Buuuut, seeing as MGS2 has no FMV sequences, as everything is in real-time... go ahead and buy the Pal!

BAH! My brains too dead to think up something funny. They said MGS2. Not SH2. Gameplay wise is what matters since its the important thing. IT aint slowed down like they asked. IT is perfect.

Metal Gear Solid 2 is good, but not perfect. The plot was a little convoluted, and it was hugely rushed at the end. That last conversation with the Colonel/Rose/GW before fighting Solidus was nearly incomprehensible. They changed topics like a schizophrenic. Talk about a word salad. Otherwise, it's an excellent game, other then my other capricious grudges about the game and plot.

I also agree, Konami is far from perfect.

Pal has a higher FPS then NTSC this is what cuases the choppiness since there are not the extra frames the PAL format expects it drops the missing frames that's why it looks sluggish.
