How do you reinstall Internet Explorer under WinXP?

I have recently downloaded the latest security updates from Microsoft, after that my IE is acting up, it won't display websites that are Gzip compressed, it just prompts to save the file; and it does not allow me to browse anything from my localhost either.

I tried to undo the update, but that doesn't change anything. Is there a way to uninstall that crappy new version of IE and get back to the original version came with Windows XP?

What websites are gzip compressed? I have never heard of that before. I know what gzip is, but compressing websites with it? What the hell?

Suprnova.org for example, its index page is gzip compressed, it loads fine in Mozilla, but doesn't work with my IE anymore after installing that stupid security patch.

Use system restore.

Maybe the link you are using has gone spastic. I've seen that happen a few times. If system restore dont work, give a yell and I'll toss you some alternate links and see if they work.

I don't understand why a site would compress something that is an already small file to begin with. Talk about penny-pinching.

that should teach you not to disable System restore! You could try to identif the hotfix in your install/uninstall list and try removing it from there, but otherwise I woudlnt really know. Ask the bloodsucker for those links!
