Tiger Mauls Magician Roy Horn in Las Vegas Show

Witnesses at the scene said the tiger, named Montecore, grabbed Horn's forearm. The magician hit him with his microphone and the tiger then lunged and bit him on the left side of the neck, causing profuse blood loss.

Horn was rushed to the University Medical Center, which said later he was out of surgery but still in critical condition.

The show has been canceled until further notice and the tiger, which was performing for the first time, is being quarantined at the hotel.

"The last place Roy would place blame would be with the animal," said Bernie Yuman, manager for "Siegfried and Roy."

White tigers and lions are a trademark of the German-born illusionists, who have been putting on one of the most famous shows in Las Vegas for 30 years.

Horn's partner in the show is Siegfried Fischbacher, 64.

The news said he was tapping the tiger on the nose with the microphone. Maybe he didn't want to be tapped on the nose, hmm. Shame that the guy got mauled, though. Obviosly the animal wasn't trained well enough.

PETA and other animal rights groups will be raping this story for years.:annoyed:

That pic was great. Too bad the tiger's name wasn't Goro.

this is a pretty big story here in vegas. alot of people will be out of work if they cancel siegfried and roy for good; it's bad for our economy.

and ofcourse, i take all the jokes back if he doesn't make it. it was kinda funny that it happened in the first place but it isn't funny if the guy dies. i hope he makes it.

Bad1, i heard that what happened is that the tiger bit and gripped his arm and as he was trying to get the tiger off (by hitting it on the nose with the mic) it went for his neck and ended up dragging him off the stage by the neck/shoulder area. that's the latest take on it, anyway.

Roy lost a ton of blood, enough to damage his brain. It is also reported that he may have had a stroke while he was in the hospital. Uncertain on that one. He's been through two surgeries so far. No matter what, he won't ever be the same.

Also consider that the show is resonsible for nearly 25% of the entire world's population of white tigers. They are doing wonders for keeping the species alive and creating public awareness about the dwindling numbers of the cats.
