Saddam negotiating with US

Quote:
Ousted Iraqi president Saddam Hussein has reportedly been in secret negotiations with US forces for the past nine days.

According to the Sunday Mirror report, Saddam was demanding safe passage to the former Soviet republic of Belarus in exchange for information on weapons of mass destruction and his bank accounts.

US President George W Bush was being kept up to date on the talks by his national security adviser Condoleeza Rice who was coordinating negotiations led by US general Ricardo Sanchez, the Sunday Mirror said.

Sanchez is the commander of US forces in Iraq.

"A representative of Saddam in Western-style civilian clothes came to coalition people at Tikrit at sunset on September 12. He led them to a house where the security official was waiting," the Sunday Mirror quoted a senior Iraqi as saying.

"The discussions are now going on under the direct authority of General Sanchez," the source said, according to the newspaper.

The source maintained that Saddam had decided to seek a deal "because he is desperate, trapped and finding fewer and fewer people willing to give him shelter," the tabloid said.
Is it me or do they have little desire in capturing him?

Seriously doubt it. Either consipring with him to plant some WMD info so Bush can save his neck by finally finding something and saying he was right to go, or they have zero ambition to catch him and more interested in his finances.

Bush lied to start the war (along with other leaders). He does need to save his neck.

There was never any proof that there WERE WMD.

Good for you that you think it is crap.

No, Bush made statements on information he and his staff beleived to be true. The false information came from UK intellegance. And gearhound is right there is still no proof of the WMD not being there. I said it before and I'll say it again. A desert is one of the easiest places in the world to hide something. If Saddam wasn't hiding something from weapons inspectors, then why the hell didn't he just comply to the resolutuion. Some people are just never satisfied. I beleive that lots of people would complain still if they had found more proof than mobile facilities. They would be like, "Well it's not a nuke, so what is the problem?".

Came from the UK...?
...taken by the CIA...
...told to the President....
...told to the people...

So who's going to get the talking to about taking their information and double checking their sources?

I think I hear a neverending blame game approaching...

You know I'm convinced that if 30 years pass and multiple searches are done around and in Iraq using super duper technology that can x-ray the centre of the earth and still no weapons found, the same lot of people will say that they were never found, NOT that they dont exist. Which they do not.

Iraq - We do not have any weapons..

Korea - We have nuclear weapons and will blow you away if you come near us..

America/UK - Ok, lets go after Iraq first!
