P2P Problems

Is anyone else having problems with Peer-to-Peer file sharing?

First, bearshare completely stopped working, I think my ISP blocked it or something, so I started using Kazaa

Kazaa used to download at 5 KBS (Im on Dailup) and then it stopped working.

When it started working again, it only downloaded it around .8, I cant find a way to make it go faster.

Has anyone had this problem, and any ideas on how to fix it?

One other thing I just noticed- people can upload from me at 3-5 KBS

Get Shareaza, it's new, so you may not find as much as on KaZaA. Though all your downloads will be 8 times faster, at most. And you should use KaZaA lite instead of the real one. Do you have the latest version? Because you won't find much on older versions. Maybe you just got a virus off it, you probably should check if you haven't already.

...Sometimes the people you get the files from will have slower connections than you. Also go to tools, options and put everything unlimited/max.

Mine all the sudden staretd doing it, it happened to everyone I have talked to on my ISP, (well...2 other people)

I have everything on unlimited, and doesnt Kazaa lite just not have adds? I have a popup blocker thing so it doesnt bother me

And I have the latest version

It's not just ads, there's a lot of spyware with the original verion. Those things will slow your whole computer down. Though, maybe your ISP is going through some changes. Try switching to Lite. All your files and stuff will still be there.

I have Ad-aware, so I can take care of spyware...and its not that, because people that used Grokster and other things on the network are having slow speeds.

should I call my ISP, I have First Step Internet, which is just a local provider

To be honest if you're getting 8k/sec on dialup then thats pretty good. The thing should be doing around 5k normally. You can't get any faster download rate since you have dialup. If you want faster then you should look into getting cable or adsl or such. Also in kazaa go through the options in tools or something. You can disable file sharing and that way noone will upload from you and you will get a better download rate cause of it.

I don't think you can just stop sharing, you'll have to do that manualy with each file. You should also have that participation level thing high.

Thanks to MXPIE I am now able to download music and games again. I can again chat with friends on WinMX as well. WinMX is back, and from what I can see from using it the last couple weeks, it is doing very well.
