Is there a good Dragon Quest 5 and 6 translation on the web? I can't find one.

That would be tight...I've been hoping for those for a looong time.
But I just meant a patch for the ROM.

for a DQ5 patch i had though dejap was working on a patch for dq6 (as well as dq5) but there website has been done for a while...but they had some quality translations sites like zophar.net or http://www.rpgrealm.com/ are good to check in on for work in progress or get a better sense of which translation to use if there are competing ones. no comment on whether translated roms are truly evil
