[STATS]
Games Beaten: 3
Unique Games Beaten: 3
Platforms: PC: 2, PS4: 1
Games Beaten Multiple Times: 0

1. Tomb Raider (2013) (PC) - January 19 - Actually got 100% in this game. Really shocked at how good it was. Kind of expected a good game and didn't think I'd find a game that reminded me of Uncharted so much (though I was aware of the comparisons).
2. X-COM 2 (2016) (PC) - February 29 - Veteran Mode. Did so well until the last mission. It's a shame this game has some crippling performance bugs. But since it's not a twitch/reaction game you can just deal with it without it screwing you (just wasting your time). The mods are great too! I had Bob Ross, Senator Armstrong, Quiet, Venom Snake, Handsome Jack, and Femshep on my team. RIP Bob Ross, Senator Armstrong, Venom Snake, and Handsome Jack...
3. Uncharted 4 (2016) (PS4) - May 15

Yeah, i beat Shinobido 2. It was the first game i got for the Vita. I always saved it for later and i looked at it like the last sequal to Tenchu.

It had potencial, but they somehow managed to make the game feel like a huge grindfest. Except theres no point to the grind.
The campaign itself i guess isnt much different than a tenchu game in terms of storyline. But the in-between story stegment missions are simply the same missions over and over with something like more difficult enemies, or different enemy placement.
Theres this whole system with 3 factions with resources and you can lower their resources, wich just gives you the same missions but the guards are now weaker/starving.

It honestly felt like an indie game. It has lots of costumes and unlockables, more difficulty levels. If someone really loves to repeat the same thing over and over with little difference, the grind is there. The thing is. Why would you?
It made me miss the more limited but well thought out missions that tenchu games had (even if tenchu Z recycled alot aswell).

I am disappointed. Not the goodbye to this tipe of game that i would have liked to see. I still think that they are incredibly enjoyable when well made.
Also, its not like its a bad game. But its very repetitive. At least getting to the end only takes 5-6 hours. Theres different endings, but i shiver having to go back through all that again. theres also another playable character unlocked along the way where you can do the grinding all over again. *shrug*

Did you never play Shinobido on the PS2? It was pretty much the same thing. I've had Shinobido 2 since I brought the PSV seemed like a good idea at the time but I've never got around to it yet.

I did get it, but i never got around to playing it much and tenchu was still around so i sold it. It makes sense. Its not like its a bad game, but its definitly missing the refinement of Tenchu.
It's odd that now i think that the Xbox only port of Tenchu 3, return from darkness is the best the series got since the original ps one games.
Now i'm wishing i never sold it. Don't even know if its backwards compatible on the 360. At least i kept Tenchu Z. Not as good, but it still has that Tenchu feel.
Something i didnt mention in my impressions is that the soundtrack on Shinobido never gets to Tenchu levels either. I miss that awesome soundtrack from Tenchu 1. What happened to Aquire?! :/

Though i must admit i never got around to playing the one with the 2 female ninjas.

I think Acquire's main series' now are Way Of The Samurai and Akiba's Trip but they haven't done anything for a couple of years. Unfortunately like GameArts and Grasshopper they were brought by GungHo that are mainly mobile phone game company.

To be honest I've enjoyed all of the Tenchu games apart from the newest one on the Wii/PSV it had horrible controls and was a first-person awkward game. That's not Tenchu.

Yup, thats the one when From soft went back to Aquire for tenchu 4 and 5 and they fecked them by making a completely different game so they would still have Shinobido. It was payback for when From "fired" them after tenchu 2, wich was a dumb decision. They were also arrogant enough to reset the lore back to tenchu 2 ignoring all that K2 LLC developer did.

Unfortunely the Tenchu series paid the price. I wonder till how long that Tenchu 5 contract lasts, as i don't think anything will happen until it voids.
From has money from the souls series these days, so perhaps they will reboot the series sometime.

Funny, i found a petition for a new tenchu on PS4.
https://www.change.org/p/release-a-new-tenchu

Almost got to 10k. Its not too bad.

Investigated a bit more. Apparantly, Activision still had some claim to the franchise but lost it completely less than a year ago. I don't know if its related to a new title or not. Aquire is apparantly working on a new console project that cannor not be a new Tenchu. If it is, i don't know how that will end up. If they do more of Tenchu 4 it will just put a final nail in the coffin. If they make it repetitive like Shinobido it will be kinda bad aswell... but surely they can't hope to continue the Shinobido series after Shinobido 2 flopped.

It wasn't From Software that fired Acquire though, originally Sony held the rights to the Tenchu series but later sold them to Activision (which is way it was released in NA/EU first) with Tenchu: WOH.

From Software later brought the rights from Activision after they published the game in Japan. I guess Tenchu 3 didn't perform well enough for Activision. K2 developed a load of Tenchu games until Capcom brought the company (and then never used them).

I don't think Acquire ever had a beef with From Software because they returned to develop Tenchu: Shadow Assassins on the Wii even though it was a disaster.

I'd forgotten how I hated the first Halo. The flood still sucked, the level designs were terrible (half the game is set in the same level, first you climb down it and then climb back out again with the flood....) Painful, thankfully Halo 2 is much more fun.

Game Of Thrones I loved every minute. Really looking forward to season 2 some real surprises throughout the game and things didn't really go that well in my game but it was a great experience.

Beat Kingdoms of amalur: reckoning and DLC's.

I guess i didnt go off to a good start this years as i keep playing mediocre games. I got it on the PSN sale. 3rd time i bought the game, thugh always on the very cheap.
This time i went for it... and well... its a terrible buggy mess. There is nothing really great about Reckoning. The combat is alright, but theres some messes with the animations. The world was interesting to explore because it was big, though nowhere near Xenoblade levels.
The cinematic view of a major city played everytime you would load the area. This means everytime you would go in a house and out (this was obviously a bug never fixed as the camera would clip through buildings to get to where my character just loaded). The world structure of the first area and the later areas was different. Character would get stuck on the floor a couple of times, sound died one other time, game crashed twice, one even saying data was corrupted and to delete and re-install.
The story and world lore are underdeveloped. The only thing it had of original was the concept that the Fae, beeings of magic were in a cycle of rebirth and were organised in courts corresponding to seasons.
Graphics were mediocre, even for the time it came out. Very low res textures in view distance, very zoomed in camera and lots of pop-in.

So,because i keep seeing positive feedback about this game in the internet, i felt like really delving into it. The fact is, its a mediocre game nearig the downright terrible. Performs terribly, looks bad and generic, its bugged to absurdity (worse than my experience with Fallout New vegas. That game at least you could predict when it was gonna crash) and has interesting character customisation and combat and a vast world.
The way the loot is structured is dumb aswell. Almost completely randomised.

The DLC's were about what one would expect. Small areas with some new dungeons and a new story. I did enjoy teeth of naros because it introduced an interesting collissi race.

Oh and the weapon DLC, i never managed to get it to work. Redownloaded the game for nothing. Threw 1.5€ in the bin. If it was more i would be livid for a reeimburse.

So, would a sequal, with a new studio, be something to look forward to? Well, there is a basis here in the combat and the vast world, but it needs alot of development.
As for 38 studio. Now i know they deserved to close. They made quite a poor job. If this is anything to go by, their MMO would've flopped big time. There is a clear lack of direction and focus in the game. It's lots of little piece very badly glued together.

So... yeah... i guess i won't feel bad anymore if this franchise fades to obscurity. Its no wonder no one bought it. There really is nothing there worhwhile. I guess it sounded better on their heads.
Also, really... the nerve on EA still selling a game and DLC that doesnt or hardly works. This game should be removed from PSN.
