how i have longed for this day. i'm even going to look past how incredibly scummy it is for a billion dollar company to use kickstarter to advertise.

It's down. So many people have rushed to donate that it crashed.

Apparently Shenmue II cost $70 Million to make so this won't fund FA, it's more to show that there's a demand for the game I guess.

It deserves to fail if there's no physical console release.

At this rate it'll be challenging Bloodstained. Even if there isn't a PS4 retail version at the moment there could be later.

Deep Silver picked up both Bloodstained and Mighty No.9 for retail after the Kickstarters ended.

Its already done. 2.1m atm. This will definitly be one of the biggest kickstarters ever.

I would love to see Sony lending financing and development resources to it because i want the game to look good.

This was predictable though. Shenmue came in a time when sandboxes werent something popular and were seen as boring. Nowadays they are all the rage. With the legendary status the game achieved, even if Sony were to fully finance it, the game would sell millions.

The Kickstarter goal told Sega they are such idiots.

Quote:
Sony is a partner in Shenmue III’s development

Sony Computer Entertainment is a partner with Yu Suzuki and Ys Net on the development of Shenmue III, SCE Third Party Productions boss Gio Corsi announced on the PlayStation official E3 live stream.

“Absolutely,” Corsi said when asked if Sony is involved. “First off, Shenmue III was the number one ask on the whole #BuildingTheList campaign, so when that first started, right off the bat, ‘Shenmue III, Shenmue III, Shenmue III.’ So this has been an ask for as long as I’ve been at PlayStation. And we met with Suzuki-san at GDC last year and we started the long road to try and figure out how we were going to get this whole thing made.

“We said, ‘the only way this is going to happen is if fans speak up,’ and we thought Kickstarter was the perfect place to do this. So we set a goal for $2 million and if the fans come in and back it, then absolutely, we’re going to make this a reality. So, Sony and PlayStation are definitely a partner in this game, and it’s going to be run through Third Party Productions with Ys Net. We’re going to get the game done. We’re going to be partners the whole way, and we’re really excited to see this thing come out in a couple of years.”

Shenmue III reached its Kickstarter funding goal this morning.

I hope Sony doesn't keep someone like Deep Silver out of pushing a physical release. I want Sony to publish it themselves. They really should. Fuckers.

If Sony is developing it, then we better get a fucking disc release for PS4.

I'm sure we will. That is the likely reason why it wasnt part of the kickstarter.
