Tricky's colour changing in SFA??

If you play with Tricky (by throwing his ball around) he changes colour. Anyway, what does this do? Does it have any point? I checked it out on some site, and it just says he changes colour,nothing else....... whats the point in that??

chalk that up to another disappointing "feature" in sfa
much like being able to climb down only to climb back up just to go to the shop, sfa "rewards" players who play with tricky by having him change color after you throw the ball to him enough
