Legend of Grimrock GoG sale

This game comes out in a couple weeks and GoG has it up for $11.99 which is pretty awesome considering I expected it to be more. Turns out they're doing a special 20% off preorder deal. Glorious eye of the beholder style game. I'm so getting it.

I've been trying to get into the Ultima Underworld series (heck the entire Ultima series) and it's been tough considering I never got a taste of this type of gameplay. Plus the fact that Almost Human had a dev video explaining their work allows a lot more credibility to those who want to support this title/genre. I like the animations of the enemies; plus the battle system doesn't look clumped with weapons taking up the entire viewing area. I purchased it and got some pretty cool free stuff (except only 1 song off the OST).

I only hope the environment changes or at least a multi-tier type of dungeon.

I also like how GOG.com has updated their website.

For anyone who wants all their games on steam, you can buy it directly from the developers website at the same price and they'll hand you a steam key.

Only difference is the GoG version comes with extras for those who like that -

manual
7 wallpapers
map
main music theme
12 avatars
2 dev team photos
6 design sketches
34 artworks

A dozen reviews are out and they're all positive.

What makes Legend of Grimrock so fantastic is that, even if you beat it, you likely won't solve all of its puzzles and find all of its treasures. Grimrock begs for further exploration, testing party builds and the limits of the dungeon's inhabitants. And it isn't long (I finished in 34 hours, but I spent time trying out different characters, experimenting with many traps, and, ahem, got stuck once or twice; focused players should finish in 15 hours or so). Legend of Grimrock is a strong debut for Almost Human, and I'm excited to see what other dungeons they put out and the mods that players create.

4.5/5

But overwhelmingly it’s a superb experience, characters levelling up at a perfect rate, agonising choices about which skill to improve becoming like knife wounds when you struggle to find the right type of weapon – the game is so cleverly sparing in its distribution of everything, so something as simple as finding a mace can feel like a mad victory. And talking of which, there are few games where I’ve felt so elated at figuring out a puzzle that I’ve punched my arms in the air and declared to the house, “I’m so brilliant at games!” Along with all this, it does a splendid job of creating a creepy atmosphere, and a deep sense of weirdness. Also, it understands the need to carry skulls.

but don't you have a massive backlog to go through?

what propels this to the front of the queue?

It reminds me of an Elder Scrolls game to be honest. I have high hopes for it too.
