Ys comes to Steam!

Ys: The Oath in Felgana is now available on Steam for $14.99! It includes Cloud saving, Steam Achievements, and controller support. Even nicer, it's only $14.99.

XSeed is also bringing Ys Origins to Steam, which will be the first time it's been available in English.

Anyone who likes action-RPGs should pick these up to support more Japanese games coming to Steam.

I just picked this up; glad I did. Owning a classic remake of a JRPG on Steam feels great.

Is that what it looks like? Why did they stretch the aspect ratio. Weak effort making it widescreen.

It's from the PSP version. But the next one is from the actual PC release cause it was only PC released.

Spidey's saying it wrong. This game, Oath in Felgana, is also available on PSP. However, the Steam version is a port of the original 2005 PC version with some enhancements. It lacks the voice acting of the PSP game. I believe you can choose fullscreen or widescreen options, because the video definitely shows fullscreen.

Also note everybody that this is an action-RPG, not a turn-based RPG.

This is a remake of Ys 3 from the SNES. It's a lot better but this one is short compared to other RPGs, I beat it in around 5 hours on the PSP.

I enjoyed the first two games the best out of the ones I played but then I love old school games.

I'm going to buy this when it goes cheap on steam and get Origin once it comes out.

Hopefully the 2 Ys 4 will make a release if these 2 sell well.

I'm still trying to find a copy of Ys 6.

Again, this isn't an RPG. It's an action RPG, so it's definitely a fair bit different from the games you listed. The closest game it easily compares to is Zelda (but with more challenging combat and a much deeper story). None of the Ys games approach the scale of Fallout or Baldur's Gate, but they're charming in their own right.

Yeah, these early eastern rpgs werent really rpgs. They were just hack and slash games mostly. You could just equip shit like Wonder boy in monster land.
