Steam on iOS and Android!

Have I ever said how much I love Steam?

The app is currently in closed beta. To express interest, download the app for iOS or Android, then log into your account from within. Valve will send out more invites as the “service ramps up.”

I can imagine the drunken 3G purchases/messages already. Apologies in advance friends list.

Next step, playing our Steam games on our phones. Like some games give you a Mac version too, some can give you a mobile version too. Plants vs Zombies, for example.

Yeah, if Valve makes that happen, it might make Apple force developers to sell the license for one game on all platforms instead of games you have to re-buy if you bought it for the iPhone/Pod and wish to now play it on the iPad....I'm looking at you Square....

not really the buy games is just the steam store . it queues up and you can dl later .

have been playing around with this today. its just an app for the communities (there were already some 3rd party ones which did similar stuff with the steam communities) .. tbh about as interesting as the similar xbl or psn apps .. and lasted about as long on my ipad as well ..

the only interesting bit is being able to check the steam store on the move i guess .. but i work from home and check it every day so a bit pointless for me

id be very surprised if apple let them sell games tbh and as a dev why would i bother either .. woudl seem a bit pointless .. when you have the app store

it wouldn't bother Apple if they still get their 30 percent per game sold.

true .. but why bother putting it on two is my point .. apple will 100% want there 30% .. Valve woudl want something i woudl guess .. so your probebly worse off having it on steam .. might as well just go to the app store like every other ios user will by default..

seriously cant see the point tbh .

now droid MIGHT be different but i'v no idea how google do thier %'s i assume they take a % of everything and woudl want that aswell?

i think this will just be the communities like xbl and a lesser extent psn (which is terrible on ios) .. handy for checkign the sales if you are out and about but not much else.
