Im one of the few people that liked the planet exploration in ME1. It wasn't perfect, but I'd rather they improved on it than just getting rid of it. NO MORE PLANET SCANNING PLEASE!
For anyone that has played ME2, we all know what is coming for Earth and the Citadel. Obviously they are extremely out numbered. I am really curious to see how they can win. I really hope the story doesn't go the route of, "Gee wiz, there is an ancient, dormant, super weapon that we need to find to defeat the Reapers".

I'm with you. Hated planet scanning and I miss the moon buggy from the first game. Some of the planetscapes were very pretty to look at. So yeah, going from something that visually pleasing to a damn powerpoint presentation didn't sit right with me.

Some people did complain about the planet exploration in ME1, but then when they replaced it with the ultra-tedious planet scanning, I think many people looked back on the planet exploration part of ME1 MUCH more favorably. I’m with you guys, I also enjoyed exploring the cool looking planets in my “Moon Patrol” buggy.
If you haven't, you should really play ME1 first before playing ME2.

I hated the planet exploration bits. They made no sense and were just filler to stretch the game out. I mean for 1, the technology in this game is pretty uber. Why the fuck couldnt they design a moon buggy that WASNT shit to control? Why not something that can hover and fly around like a drop ship? Also going on that trail of thought, why couldnt they just scan the surface and drop you ONTOP of whatever you needed to find. Infuriated me. Also the exaggerated lightness of the buggy countered the actual gravity force of each planet. I wanted to break something because a dozen laws of physics were being raped. More so was me trying to control this piece of shit.

Funny, most I spoke with liked the planet scanning over the exploration parts. If they are going to make us find resources or extra parts, at least it's streamlined. That moon buggy moved sooooo slow. In fact, a lot of Mass Effect 1 was larger than it needed to be. Notice how small the Citadel was this time around. Everything was much more compact, which was nice.

ME2 on the PS3 will be using the newer unreal engine that's being used in ME3, so this will be the better looking version compared to the 360's ME2.

I played the first two games on PC. I think I'll get the PS3 version of part 2 and 3 for the trophies.

The GUI was horrible on PC. I'm willing to try out ME2 first on the PS3 to see if there's any improvement in control interface.

I thought it was clunky. The escape command does whatever the hell the devs want it to depending on the menu, plus you can't bind any of the keys to anything. Also, I wanted to test out the differences between mouse/keyboard and a 360 controller, but no support.
