In the couple hours I played with it I remain unimpressed. Reminds me of the wii but years later on the xbox.

The launch line-up is beyond pathetic and may just kill the Kinect off. Seriously, Windows Phone 7 has a better launch line-up of games.

I hope this, and all forms of motion gaming, fail to replicate their success next generation and we can get back to gaming like we did back in the good ol days: Sitting on our ass, holding a controller, and drinking adult beverages.

There are cool games they can make with motion detection, but tough luck of the companies ever really putting the time and money into making a good game out of them.
All they see are the crap games selling so lets just make more of them first. But right now, a normal controller is still the best way to play a game.... that or with a keyboard and mouse ![]() You just can't play Starcraft with a controller! expect to lose! I knew I should never have bought Starcraft 64 or Diablo on the PS1.

I'd like to say I'm not(having vested ridiculous amounts of hours into wii games) but as more and more time goes on I find myself playing motion controlled games less and less. I also find it interesting that most non-gamers that bought into the motion control hype a year or two back don't play it anymore either, at least the ones I know.

There are a few games that are getting good reviews and buzz:
Kinect Sports Kinectimals Dance Central YourShape: Fitness Evolved And Kinect Adventures is pretty fun too, not that it's super deep or anything. |

I don't like how I need so much space in front of my TV for Kinect. That's a deal-breaker for me. This is coming from someone who buys things on impulse like friggin' PS Move.

I agree that the space thing is a drag, but here's some stuff to consider.
Kinect wants 7-7 feet between you and the sensor. You can give yourself an extra foot by just mounting Kinect on top of your TV rather than below it. You can play arm-oriented games even if a coffee table's in front of you. Like the river racing game in Kinect Adventures, which is the best part of Adventures, IMO. But when you need it to see your feet, just drag the coffee table out of the way and put it back when you're done. |

It's funny. I listened to giantbomb this afternoon, and fuck if they don't have Kinectimals pegged. The game is totally vapid and aimed at kids 10 and younger. For adults it feels silly and childish and no one who has ever read anything on a 12th grade level will want to play it.
But if all they had done was made Viva Pinata 3, and integrated all that kinectimals shit into it, Microsoft would have had their killer app. Their killer app that no one would buy. Except me.
