Fixing dead pixels on an ipod touch?

Well today I had my window open and i laid my ipod touch on the window and it happen to close shut on it. It didn't crack it, but it left some dead pixels on the upper-right hand corner. I tried looking to see how I could fix it and some suggested rubbing the area, which I really don't want to do that and risk cracking the screen. There was also a site that flashes a bunch of random colors really fast and it didn't help either. Here's a vid of how it looks. It's not all that bad, but if there's a way to get rid of it I'd rather do so.

Did you use your Xbox camera to do that?

Anyway, there probably isn't much you can do. Maybe some light rubbing might help, but probably not. That area is damages and the pixels are probably dead forever or even leaked.

You need to bury the iPod in one inch of soul that way the spirits of the dead pixels can move on. The pixels have unresolved issues and aren't ready to let go. Only after that can you dig it up and have a clear screen.

yeah it's the only camera i had with me. I'm just a bit surprised that the screen didn't crack and yet the pixels are dead, i was just wondering if perhaps since the screen didnt crack that there was a way to fix the pixels.

My brother sells phone accessories for the Iphone, Ipod touch, etc.. and he says the screen is very very hard to break. Even if you drop it multiple times it will hardly get a crack or a scratch. He mentioned the screen was made out of some sort of special glass or something. Anyways, I don't think you can do anything to fix it. Its the first gen right? You can always send it in to Apple to get it fixed or get a new one.

Well i bought it from someone at work and plus it's jailbroken, so not sure what would happen with that.

My Iphone has lots of scratches and dust in the screen from dropping it a bunch. I searched the net and you can get replacement screens with the tools to replace it for under $50. Just google Iphone or Ipod touch replacment touchscreen.

like joe said light rubbing might help. there is also a tapping technique but trust me i've seen it done and it causes even more problems.

Buy a new one. Seriously, that's what they want and expect you to do.

Hmm I heard about that tapping technique and figured it would probably screw with it more so i didn't do it. And btw the pixels got worse, the line towards that bottom of clusters is all the way across the screen now, but it hasn't gotten any worse than that.

@kiuju
I was planning on ordering a different one anyways but now i can probably see this one for slightly less than i wanted to.

This is very true. I used to work at a repair shop 2 blocks down from an apple store. The things that apple refused to take in...it was crazy.

Anyway, download this into your ipod touch and let it run for an hour

With any luck, they're just stuck. If not...you're pretty much SOL and you need to replace the screen if you want them to work again.

hmm, i may just go ahead and get a replacement screen since it's not very hard to replace them. I found some on amazon for about $20 with shipping and the tools for $5, i'm looking at about $25 - $28 to replace it, but it'll also raise the ipod's value since it won't have the dead pixels and is jailbroken.

And you will have a brand new shiny, scratch free Ipod. I plan on doing this with my Iphone3G 16GB and then selling it and upgrading to a 3GS 32GB. Now that I qualify for the cheaper upgrade pice I can probably sell my Iphone for close to the cost of a new one.

Just be careful. The 3g's metal casing tends to warp after being opened for the first time. The tools that will come with the screen are USELESS.
