Video Game Movies
I'm doing a blog in a few days where I'm Watching a ton of Video game movies to answer the question.....how come nobody can get them right. I've already watched both Street Fighter movies and both are good for what they are but the Van Damme movie is Awesome for other reasons. Legend of Chun li was just poorly cast.
Over the next few days I'm watching these Bloodrayne DOA Doom Double Dragon Far Cry Hitman House of the Dead Max Payne Both Mortal Kombats Postal Resident Evil Extinction (Cuz It has Wesker) Silent Hill Super Mario Brothers I'd like some input and thoughts on those films if you've seen them. Maybe I'll add them to my entry. The pending Awefulness of the KOF movie inspired all this. |

Bloodrayne started off ok and then just started to get very very slow. Like 5min horse running scenes, seriously what for. The girl was good as the main character but she cant scream, so it bugged me a lot. It was fairly poor. DOA was all kinds of lol, I enjoyed it for the entirely wrong reasons, and those mainly had to do with Eric Roberts. Good film, seen it a couple times. Most wont class it as a good film though. Double dragon is lol, max payne could of been REALLY good but they just lost their focus and made the film stupid. Tried to enjoy it the first half and second half just made me want to throw stuff. RE Extention eh. Silent Hill I adored. All those haters can go watch steel magnolias.

Hitman and Max Payne I really didn't like at all. House Of The Dead and Double Dragon were pure comedy. You should check out Alone In The Dark 1 and 2 aswell the second one was pretty interesting and I enjoyed both to some degree. |

I like the first 2 Resident Evil moves and Silent Hill. Street Fighter is not exactly a great movie, but it's fun as a bad movie (without being 100% terrible like Double Dragon).
BTW you left out Wing Commander (*hurl*). |

Only good ones on there would be Silent Hill and Resident Evil Extinction. <-- Good movie, but shouldn't take on the names of RE. Should be called something else. =P
You should give Alone in the Dark a look too. I faintly remember it... boring. And where, can I ask, is Pokemanz? =P

No pokemon movie. Although I'd love to see a real live psyduck.

To me it's because every Videogame movie I've seen has some director taking "creative liberties" with the series.
Just once I would like to see a videogame movie that follows closely to the original. |

Since it's a video game series/anime I'll mention that you should check out Fist of the North Star. It is corny as hell, which fits perfectly into the theme of this thread. There were a few decent action scenes in it. But here's a clip of how bad the acting was. Some of the worst acting of all time, definetely a must watch for a laugh.
The bad guy is actually Detective Hoffman from the Saw movies. |

Justin that movie has a few good scenes recreated from the anime, but overall it's extremely annoying and hard to watch. |
