What's so great about the Wii?

I'm being subjective here. I'm not being anti Nintendo as I DO have a DS though I haven't bought a game for it in ages and I haven't played a game that uses it to it's potential in a even longer. I do have a slight bias against Nintendo for past business practices.

SO, Besides, No More Heroes, Madworld, Smash Brothers and a few light gun games.

What is so great about the wii?

To me it's, You sit in the couch waggling a remote rather than fiddle a controller.

Nintendo. If Microsoft or Sony made the Wii, I wouldn't be too fussed.

But any game console with Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Smash Bros. is a winner in my book. They could make the next console just a massive shit, with a controller sticking out of it; and if they released a new Mario game, I would buy it and love it <3

That's it in a nutshell, honestly. The same exact system released by anyone else wouldn't be as popular. It's all about Nintendo's marketing. They made it appeal to grandma and families with small children. This popularity has made the Wii seem "greater" than it is simply due to its sales. It's not a horrible system by any means. There are quite a few good games that take advantage of the wand thing. Metroid Prime 3 is a great example. Super Mario Galaxy is a great game, but doesn't really require the wand thing.

Personally I much prefer traditional controls over the wand thing. It will be interesting to see what Nintendo does for the next generation. They will have to out do themselves. Will they stick with unconventional control?

I own about 25 Wii games and only two of them are Nintendo's SMB?? and Metroid Prime Trilogy.

There is a nice selection of adventure games aswell and a few other bits and bobs.

The wii isn't my favorite system but I love a lot of the games on there, Resident Evil 4 is 10 times better on the wii.

I'm the same way. The wii isn't my favorite system nor do I play very much but every game I have for it I absolutely love. Metroid comes to mind.

I play with it from time to time. But these days I'm pretty picky and don't have a lot of time. My girlfriend loves playing with my Wii though, and apparently all her friends do too. She'll have a few over and I'll come home and find all four of them playing with it sometimes. It baffles me, I don't even have that much fun playing it myself, I don't get how they can enjoy it so much.
