Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars will be "far bigger" than GTA PSP games

Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories will have nothing on Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, according to Gordon Hall, prez of Rockstar Leeds.

Hall says that, in terms of scope, (I doubt he means size), the game is much bigger than any of the GTAs they made for the PSP:

Chinatown Wars is much bigger than anything we have ever done before: more odd jobs, deeper missions, and more moments of over-the-top action.

We have a huge interaction with the Rockstar Social Club, a massive [narcotics trafficking] game that would stand alone on its own. The list goes on and on; this thing is huge. We are very proud of all of the PSP games we have made, especially the two GTA games, but this game is far bigger.

Mr. Hall, please. I can't want this game any more even if you offered to give me a million dollars. Though I'll take the million dollars. And your car.

Because of the sales numbers. DS/PSP sales ratio is 2:1. They will have more people buying in a population of 94 million in opposition of a population of 42 million. Not to mention that the DS system and games are cheaper. Cheaper generally wins over quality.

Its sales depends on how many DS owners will buy this type of game, however. This is rather "left field" compared to 99% of the handheld's titles. I think its a risk but we shall see if people play fetch.

but everybody loves GTA. on the other hand, plenty of people are bashing this game just because it doesn't look like another GTA3 clone. i'm pretty interested in this game and i'd like to see it in motion.

It sold about 120k on the GBA.

GTA: Liberty City Stories sold 2 million on PSP.

Graphics on Nintendo systems are always behind, and they still sell like a mofo. Of course there'll be about 50% that will buy this because it's GTA and be dissapointed as hell when they see the graphics but Rockstar and Nintendo probably don't give a F*ck.

burpingcat Really Enjoys The Magic Box Join Date: Feb 2004 Posts: 4,156	but everybody loves GTA. on the other hand, plenty of people are bashing this game just because it doesn't look like another GTA3 clone. i'm pretty interested in this game and i'd like to see it in motion.
