New Golden Axe details.

Would be nice if this game has the quality to at least stand up to the better games in the genre. It probably won't, but the general idea behind it is good (better than Heavenly Sword, which missed the all-important visceral appeal factor). Two hack n' slash games from Sega in the making. Hopefully at least one will be worth playing.

Golden Axe: Revenge of Death Adder (arc)

The follow up to the original arcade version.
Only one fault, too much rehash of sprites, but this game is better then good. It's BOSS!

It had it all: better gameplay, better graphics, multiple paths, equipment for your beast (Catapult, Crossbow launcher), 4 players, Coop magic (Trix summons appeltree that drops appels to replenish your health and that of your partners), cinematic death animations of a soldier when you summon your spell, and more bizarre characters (Gillius Thunderhead the only returning one, but he's on the back of some big guy who walks and fights for Gillius, while Gilius summons magic, and there's a centaur lady, pitchfork boy Trix, and a ax battler clone).

For their time, they were very good Paper.. though since you were prolly like 3yrs old when they were in arcades you wouldn't know and I assume your basing the games off of ports you played on something.

Hope this turns out well, but I doubt it.

It will prolly just get trashy like the Gauntlet series did. It's commonplace to just make shitty games using old franchise names.

At least it is something fresh instead of just the "arcade greastest" compilation rehashed every single gen.

I'll wait for reviews or bargain bin on this one.

To be honest you are speaking the truth. I tried the Mega Drive version in SEGA collection for PS2 and also on emulator. I do think Street of Rage is good though.

Dude, in the early 90's Arcades where the cocaine of the youth! Now your right, but we are talking about a old game. Its just like no one cared about craptendio in from 96-06 till they ruined there image hiring models and copying apple.

the only ones i really like where the arcade one and the first one on Gen, the second one was ok and the third one was crap...

Golden Axe Revenge of Death Adder > Golden Axe (Arcade), Golden Axe: The Duel, Golden Axe (md), Golden Axe II, Golden Axe III, Golden Axe Warrior, Ax Battler: A Legend of Golden Axe

But Bare Knuckle is definately a better franchise then Golden Axe
