Do you leave your PC/monitor on over night?

I just got a new 19" Viewsonic LCD monitor. In the past I've always shut my monitor off if I left my PC on for any length of time w/o using it. Don't use screen savers.

What about you?

Just make sure your screensaver kicks in at a decent time and the monitor also powers off after a while and you'll be fine. You dont want any crazy burn in images! I leave it on or off, depending if I'm getting something super important.

I turn the screen off, but leave my computer on quite often overnight downloading things.

But, you're using a Mac, it only takes a few seconds to turn it back on.

As for me, my windows machines run 24/7, but my Mac gets turned off when not in use.

The screen saver is necessary for the CRT monitors for sure and the burn-in is something only plasma tvs have to deal with.
The only problem that might arise with the LCDs is the appearance of dead pixels but I don't know if the screen saver can actually do something about it.

I dont think CRT have that problem. I mean I've left mine on for hours many times and nothing happens.

I always make sure to turn my monitor off whenever I leave my desk for a while. I leave my PC on for weeks at a time though, mostly because I'm always d/ling something.

My computer only turns off to reboot or to install new hardware. The monitor gets turned off whenever I leave the room.

24/7 on mostly, 10min to screen saver, screen saver is black, 22' lcd widescreen. I keep it on soley for downloading, and it's not easy to power off my screen due to the fact my power button.. broke.. yes.. its jammed inside so i have to use some sort of object to toggle it off and on so i just leave it on even after turning off the system.

The LCD monitors from my work are always on and running 24/7. I don't think I ever noticed any problems with them.
