Gamespot: no Wii before April. Is Nintendo up to no good?

I'm trying to find a Wii for the past few weeks and the Gamestop gospel has changed from "Out of stock, come back next week" to "No Wii before April".
Is Nintendo trying to launch a massive number of Wiis sometime this April to resolve the shortage? Does anyone know?

Why send out lots of small shipments of Wiis, when nintendo oculd just wait a couple of weeks and send them all at once? Its a great thing that the Wii has pretty much totally sold out everywhere. Nintendo said before the wii even came out at christmas that they would have more than enough to reach and exceed expected sales-that means that the Wii is in amazingly high demand from the consumer.
I personally think the shortage of Wii consoles is both good and bad for nintendo-it shows that the console has caught on and is in high demand, but customers will only wait so long before they get bored,and go for the next best thing.
Nintendo need to fill up them shelves again, so anyone who wants one can get one

Yeah. Its good and bad. Good cause there is demand. Bad cause the longer they are out of stock, the more console IN stock will sell (Ps2, 360 ect)

Huh? come to canada then, I know stores that have PS3s and Wiis in stock right now. Toys R Us up here does and so does my EBgames.

You would think so, but I seriously doubt it. I'm sure that would be the case if it was for a birthday gift, but if not people will wait. Simply because the Nintendo Wii has something people are hearing about from families, friends, and various sources that the other consoles can't match.

my uncle moved to texas for a while and he said everytime he went to gamestop or target tehre was always plenty of wii's but he didnt buy any T_T

If you go to any Nintendo world store and just wait 30 minutes in line before it opens you will have a Wii. They have 100 Wii's once every week.
