MUGEN

MUGEN is a fighting game creation program. It was big years ago, then they moved the project to Linux and it died. Before it died they started taking donations and even finished a beta version for windows XP. I just recently found out someone released the beta version and it has been completed by the fans. I figured I would share this stuff with some of you becouse there are some 2d fighting game fans here. Basicly on the lowest level, you can just download and insert charicters that are posted online and make your own fighting games. Chipp Zanuff vs Sub-Zero for example is possible with MUGEN. With more skill you can start editing charicters that are released. Like adding moves or changing damage/speed/jump hight/multijump/dash/ect. If you are good with sprites you can even make your own from scratch.

If anyone is interested, here are some links.

http://unofficial-winmugen.jpn.org/ - WinMUGEN and patch

http://streetmugen.com/site-us.html - good site for charicters/stages

If anyone needs help inserting charicters or anything just ask. Its not that hard realy, you just plug in the file names into a .def file.

Hope those help. My advice is to try to balance the game, not by changing the characters, but by altering their total/max HP. This can make any cheese ball character fair after a while.

Then, when you have a semi-balanced 400-1000 character roster, force random select with friends in teams of 4 characters for a day of fun.

i still have my game actually. I just added levels and characters nothing special. too lengthy and no way to have a unified tourney. Now if people sat down and just made 1 game then that would be dope I mean a real game not a crappy melty blood esque... just no.....

Anyone know how to insert a charicter as a boss only? Non selectable that is. For the moment I just hide them offscreen.
