I use winamp with the classic skin. I think the media library works rather well and I tend to use it quite a bit. I've used a couple of other players, but for the most part I grew up on winamp.

Out of the hundreds I have used over the years, the only one I will use at the moment is Itunes.

I HATE winamp. If I didnt have Itunes to use I would likely get some open source media player and be done with it. Never going to use winamp again.

VLC is the best open source app for video for both Win and OS X.

And I use iTunes for music. But I think it's recently become quite a memory hog once they added all the bells and whistles. They should make a smaller version...

for music use Winamp. Most features, least demanding.

for video use Media Player Classic with the Combined Community Codec pack. Plays every single thing you throw at it, and trust me ive checked.

as for other video options ive tried BSPlayer, WMP, Winamp, VLC and they all cant play something. Even VLC, which is supposed to be awesome, cant play some MKV files.
