Nintendo to replace all broken Wii straps (UK)

Quote:
Games firm Nintendo has said it will replace all broken straps for its Wii console, following customer complaints.
The strap is connected to a motion sensitive remote which is used to control the on-screen action.

The announcement follows reports about the wrist straps breaking during use, leading to the controller slipping out of hands, smashing TVs and windows.
Quote:
The problem with the straps, originally reported as a major recall, affects all Nintendo Wiis sold worldwide and almost all units currently on shelves in shops. Nintendo has targeted sales of four million Wii consoles by the end of 2006.
Hmmm so it seems like all those early adopters, were not retarded and did know how to use the Wiimote.
I watched two news channels cover this story today. They mentioned that the strap is not that sturdy and durable. Nintendo should have tested it fully and should have composed it of a more durable material.

Further down in the link they also mention:

Quote:
The Japanese firm has also recalled 200,000 AC adapters for its DS and DS Lite consoles in Japan. Nintendo said the recall would not affect overseas adapters , and company executives expected only a small impact on earnings.

I can't believe they're even replacing them....I don't even use the god damn thing, took it off straight away because it was annoying. When I went to buy the Wii on launch, they were selling gloves saying "It WILL slip out your hand".

That doesn't seem much different from the original strap. Although neither I nor any of my friends are having problems with the strap or letting go of the controller. I guess none of us are stupid.

Dude, why do you post in the Nintendo forum? All you ever have to say is something negative. I mean the people who post negative usually post positive things as well from time to time. But all I ever see from you is how much you orgasm over okami and now this. Find some usefullness man. Life isn't all negativity.

Yea, they should ignore all the problems like Sony does...

Atleast it's just a little piece of plastic, Sony on the other hand decided to ship a unfinished product.
