Nintendo will greatly reduce the amount of Wii U systems produced and shipped

So only 12 millions worldwide Wii U shipped, that number is just really really low.

Nintendo will “greatly reduce the amount of Wii U systems produced and shipped” during the financial year ending March 2017, company president Tatsumi Kimishima recently said. “Taking into consideration demand for the new NX hardware and overall demand forecasts,” he added, “we plan to ship 800,000 units.”

Financial Results Briefing
for Fiscal Year Ended March 2016
Apr. 28, 2016

Next, I would like to discuss our prospects for the fiscal year ending March 2017.
...
...
...
We plan to release our new concept game system, currently being developed under the codename "NX," in March 2017.

We will take another opportunity prior to the release to discuss the features and price of the NX, as well as the software lineup for launch.

We do not plan to show the NX at the E3 show in Los Angeles in June. We will introduce the NX at another time later this year.

Our E3 experience will focus on the latest title in The Legend of Zelda series. We have already released The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD for Wii U and Hyrule Warriors Legends for Nintendo 3DS this year. Thirty years have passed since the release of the first title in The Legend of Zelda series, and we have even more in store for the future.

Next, I would like to discuss our strategy for production and shipping of Wii U in the fiscal year ending March 2017. We plan to greatly reduce the amount of Wii U systems produced and shipped for the fiscal year ending March 2017, compared to the fiscal year ended March 2016.

Taking into consideration demand for the new NX hardware and overall demand forecasts, we plan to ship 800,000 units.

please no gimmick controller or controls for next system, please no gimmick controlsssssssssssssssssssss for NX!

Nintendo needs to know that their need to be different from the rest is making people turned off from their systems.

Maybe it uses a touch screen controller like the fake mockup suggested.

Perhaps it is a need for nintendo to offer a different way of playing because if they go for a conventional one they'll be in a huge disadvantage against their rivals as we know that they are years behind in what online features they got.

Hopefully they'll make a huge improvement on their online experience because their family friendly next to each other play is dragging them down.

Oh! and they should also get updated in graphics because there is a lot of people that will just settle with that.

But they will keep producing it until 2018. Make of that what you will.
