Does anyone actually enjoy water levels in games?
Last two games with retarded water levels I've played was New Super Mario Bros. and God of War. GoW didn't have water levels as such, and there weren't any underwater enemies, but it was still goddamn boring and pointless. NSMB has same kind of water levels as previous Marios, meaning they suck. They are not fun and they are pretty much just awful. I am convinced the only reason they put these in Mario games is because they want the typical variation found in Mario games (deserts, mansions, green fields, FUCKING WATER), but that's no excuse for them being so retarded. Levels where you're on platforms floating on water or something are fine, but underwater levels are disgusting. 3D Marios handled it a bit better, but they still suck compared to regular levels.
Down with water levels, I say. |

Zelda had sucky water levels, Starfox had sucky water levels and so did Metroid.
I agree with you completely in saying that water levels are no good. |

Humans can't swim thats why its hard, if you could play as a whale...it would still suck, just look at Ecco the Dolphin.

On the flipside, I actually really liked the water level (Atlantica) in Kingdom Hearts.

Which is why they replaced it with that shitty sing-a-long garbage in KH2. Quote:
"Angelo's playing Marble Madness!!!!!" "OH SHI-! GET THE F*** OUT'VE HERE, JUST GET THE F*** OUT!" I'm sure if Marble Madness had a Water level, I would have had to choke a bitch.

Has to be done right.
Kameo had really fun water levels because the methods you use to go about the water are interesting and intuative. Most water levels suck because it takes you 9 hours to get from point a to point b.

trying to think of the last water level i played in a game............................... Oh yeah ninja gaiden. Wasn't that bad. It wasn't as fun as the non-water stuff but it was decent. it's funny, it's the only level in the game thats actually pretty easy.

First game I really completed, Mario 64, there were the 3 water levels, and they were my least favourite in the game. Considering what a fantastic game that was, that just goes to show how utterly weak water levels are. Compared to the slick platforming action of Mario that I was enjoying, to be expected to fumble about in 3D water worlds, watching my oxygen level whilst feeling the controller getting slippy with sweat, squinting past the murk, wasn't fun for me, even at that age. The real irony though is, that some people bitch about the lack of variety in a game, when the cliche water levels are taken out. Can't please some people. |
