XBLA - Plants vs Zombies - Coming this year w multiplayer!

http://kotaku.com/5590065/co+op-and-...nts-vs-zombies

Plants vs Zombies, my favorite tower-defense game of all time, is coming to XBLA. Even better, it's getting cooperative and competitive multiplayer! There's just so much stuff to do even without those additions.

Quote:
The maker of Peggle and Bejeweled made it official today, revealing an XBLA version of the real-time strategy game that has already hit the PC, Mac, iPhone and iPad. Plants Vs. Zombies for Xbox Live Arcade should arrive in the fall, bringing with it seven game modes, two all-new multiplayer modes (co-op and versus), 12 unique achievements and 21 mini-games.

PopCap also promises:

* A goofy new way to track and share progress online, where players create their own custom house and cruise down the street to see their friends' cribs!
* The highest resolution of any Plants vs. Zombies adaptation to date at 1920 x 1080

I'm assuming you share the same plants in co-op. Hmm....

Peggle on PC never got multiplayer or Achievements (they pretended to add Steam Achievements to Peggle Nights but they never actually worked) like the XBLA version. Plants vs Zombies 2 (which is unannounced, but coming eventually) on PC might get some multiplayer though.

Release date: September 8.

They're also releasing a disc with Plants vs Zombies, Peggle, and Zuma, all for $20. Way better deal than just PvZ by itself, but I already own the other 2 games.

Does it play like Pixeljunk Monsters and that minigame in 3D Dot Game Heroes?

Well, you don't walk around in this one. You just build between waves and manually collect items and coins during the waves themselves. There's a ton of weapons and other stuff tyo buy in the store, so constantly earning money during gameplay gives a nice sense of progression. There are several types of levels: day, night, pool, and rooftop, and they all require different strategies. And there are like 20 minigames, some of which are a lot of fun, and a zen garden that you can populate with plant seeds earned during the main game and minigames.

PixelJunk Monsters is a great but hard game. Plants vs Zombies is easier (though some stuff is still challenging) since it never requires you to get perfect on a level. It has wayyyy more stuff to do and I like it much better.

IGN has posted a preview with lots of good info:

http://xboxlive.ign.com/articles/111/1110056p1.html

Quote:
Co-op
In IGN's brief writeup of the game, the site says one co-op strategy is to have one player use defensive plants while the other uses offensive plants, as they try to hold back the oncoming undead. In Versus mode, the zombie player has to eat his or her way into the plant player's home, while the plant player has to shoot down three zombie targets.

Controls
The left stick quickly whisks your cursor around your yard and the A button plants your defenses. The bumpers cycle through your available seeds at the top of the screen. And holding the triggers will suck sunlight to your cursor, so you don't have to "mouse over" every single one.

Plants vs Zombies is out. The control is actually great, so playing on 360 doesn't put you at much of a disadvantage at all. The first few levels have been adjusted to make the gameplay easier to learn, too. People who don't play PC games or PvZ fans who want multiplayer should give this version a shot.

Neat. I also like how it's now in Widescreen. It's easier to view the field.
