It's been trendy to bash Squeenix since FFX came out. Granted they deserve some of it, their output this gen has been weak compared to last gen, but the relentless bashing of Squeenix all the time does get tiresome.

3 Final Fantasy games. Wow.. No X2 please! Why not make a prequal to FFVIII.. a lot of games of the series could stand a sequal/prequal. Its prolly next gen creators going out of their way to make great rpgs. We haven't had a classic rpg since 1998. Its show and tell. We could be seeing history as we know it, or a video game version of the movie "DUNE".

the last RPG i played and said "Wow that was fun" in the end was Skies of Arcadia on dreamcast... Still had the lame random encounters and basic fighting... if they switched taht with grandia II's fighting system it would have been teh best ever.

This was posted on another forum by a someone named Saj, with really interesting info.

Quote:
I attended E3 This year and during the special theater showing by tickets they showed all kinds of trailers including the Compilation of Final Fantasy 7 and the three trailers for the 3 Final Fantasy 13 games.

The first one is a longer version of what is available for download staring the pink haired girl. This one flows much better and its more obvious that she has some sort of magical ability (or tool) that allows her to suspend her gravity which shows to look like blue waves of pulsating light. The graphics were so good it was really difficult to tell which was the the 3D cut scene and which was the in game graphics.

The action was her fighting inside this train and with a large weapon creature. (looks similar to emerald weapon from FF7)

The nariation makes a mention of those who become so powerfull that are they people or are they demi gods?

The next trailer was for Final Fantasy verses XIII. This one plays some beautiful depressing opera music with a deep female voice singing in another language. The opening nariation is about a kingdom and a liniege that strives to remain independent from the rest of the world looking to take it over and their use of crystals to protect themselves. Also that it is directed by Nomura and done with the staffs of Kingdom Hearts and Advent children.

It opens with a young grey haired, red eyed man in black sitting on a throne looking like his dog just died. It lingers on his depressed state for some quite time before he stands up and walks outside. At the entrance are some fallen guards and at the base of the stairs there is a large group of men wearing knight style armour but holding guns. The young man slowly descends the stairs in no rush and all the men open fire on him. The bullets that miss hit the stairs but the bullets that hit seem to be hitting some sort of barrier or forcefield in front of the man. As more bullets hit this forcefield you notice its actually the outlines of swords that the bullets seem to be striking.

The man stops and you see that about 12-15 swords are circling around him in a franic motion that he's controlling. The scene ends with a closeup of the man as his eyes begin to glow even redder.

The last trailer is for a mobile game with more cutsy artwork. In the end it shows the logos for all three games converge into the base of yet another amono style art piece for the entire compliation.

Gamespot preview points out this:

He emerged onto a staircase that was riddled with the corpses of what seemed to be uniformed guards. The camera then shifted to behind the mysterious man, showing the square in front of the building, and it was filled entirely with black-clad troops--who interestingly enough seemed to be dressed the same as the corpses. Perhaps some kind of power struggle is being hinted at.
Dengeki and Famitsu are suppose to be coming out more info n FFXIII on the 18.

at least its not a blitzball game or a concert. I couldn't handle another nonrepublic game. In any Final Fantasy they need kingdoms or republics for it to be a classic. oops there went my 2 cents on FF!

FF12 doesn't even look like a classic anymore since it was released in Japan. They need wordwide releases. And Demi-human, isn't it part man, part beast? I thought Ancients were the special people. "Ancient" is used in many rpgs to describe powerful beings before our time. It's crazy rpg lingo.

I'm needless to say how these Final Fantasy games work on Ps3. Popping in disc after disc could get VERY OLD if these games are similar in anyway. It just means it will need an award winning storyboard to get me playing 40 hours on one, 40 hours on another, and then another 40 just to see what happens.
