ALLARD: XBOX 360 TO HAVE $300 PRICE TAG
First hints on Xbox 360's price dropped, with confirmation on launch cost due soon 15:26 Microsoft's J Allard has revealed that the company's next-gen console Xbox 360 will retail 'in the neighbourhood' of $300 when it launches at the end of the year. Delivering the approximate price tag during a recent interview with financial website TheStreet.com, Allard went on to state that he wasn't sure what the actual cost of the next-gen machine will be at launch and added that finalising of launch price details is still ""probably about two months away". Allard was also queried on the exact arrival date for Xbox 360, answering "when it's done" and saying that logistics surrounding the worldwide launch of the console are still being worked out. We will of course keep you posted on fresh Xbox 360 launch plan developments as they happen but price point is sure to prove a key battleground in the next gen. Microsoft will have to weigh things carefully and balance profitability against aggression: if Allard's right around $300 would seem an admirable compromise between the two. But what do you think? Yeah, but we saw this coming. No one really thought this was gonna be a 700 dollar system. The most we've seen at this point is 360, and that'll probably be the price of an extended bundle.
If It's 300, I might get it at launch for the simple reason being that I'll have the money and i'm gonna get one eventually. I'm getting it insured though.

Now with all the stuff Sony has supposed, coming for the PS3...will they come in at that price and compete? No...someone's lying...I wonder if they are going to water down the specs like they did the PSP?....umm yeah I think that's a safe bet to take...

Maybe Sony will just have a simple Game system/dvd player option for cheap. Unlikely, but it would be nice.
$300 seems pretty reasonable for a launch system. What would they make it in Canadian $$$? Maybe $400 max? Another cheap PC

I've always thought it was stupid to compare a gaming machine to a PC...Game systems are much more focused...Yes they use the same parts, but the results are different...I look at them as really expensive toys...lol...Instead of all purpose OS, chips, sound cards, etc...

don't get ahead of yourself. it hasn't been confirmed that the 360 will be $300. everyone's just asuming that.
