Looking for some programs....

Can someone plz give me some links or programs that:
1- Allow you to copy video files from a DVD or VCD & convert them to normal MPEG/AVI/Real Media files? ...but keep the quality if I reduce the size.
2- Allows you to edit video files, by cutting some scenes or adding scenes
3- Allows you to add 'subtitles' to the video files you saved (catching my drift?)
Thanks!

It doesnt take that much time if you know what you are doing. I always convert stupid OGM files of chinese movies into AVIs with the subtitles hard encoded into the files. I dont like OGM. :p

In your case, you will probably need a DVD ripper, a subtitle ripper, VirtualDub and a filter for subtitles.

You can get all of those and tutorials at doom9.net.

doom 9 is my fav dvd ripping site- very comprehensive.

try gordian knot and strip the video- then find another program maybe on the site to change the format.
