the 7th screenshoots, the universe look huge. This was one of the major complaint I had with the original Phantasy Star Online for Dreamcast. This versioncoming up nicely and look even more polished than the first set of screenshoot we received a few week ago.

Meh. Im not impressed. The PS2 is starting to look REALLY dated where it comes to polygon count and texture quality. Maybe my PC and recent games are just spoiling me, but this game does not impress me visually at all. It makes me think of Dreamcast.

But I guess if the gameplay itself is up to notch, its something that can be overlooked.

Seska, this is also comming out for the PC. These screen shots do seem better than the PS2 is capable of...Hmmm. Ya, the textures might not be cutting edge, but I think it is the art direction that is making everybody go, Wow! I think these screen shots look awesome myself. The character design, enviorments and that dragon look incredible and just make you want to explore the Phantasy Star Universe and get lost in the game. I'm hoping for a next gen console port myself, Xbox 360 to be exact.

Why is the "monster-rhino" universe_20.jpg wearing a cloth/seat(?) with the words "DDR" on it?

I love the artistic approach for graphics for these screenshots. High poly count & all other "bling bling" mean nothing to me as long as all graphics fit into the universe of game.
Like the PSO-engine is weird that each map needs to have "doors" so monsters dont chase you forever.

But I havent seen any screenshots for androids/casts in PSU-setting, I hope they dont look like robo-maids still. Also I really hope that they bring in active & passive skills into character development.

I dont know, I mean seriously, considering the likes of God of War and FFX, and more recently, Grandia 3, this game looks like crap, graphically. The only thing it has going for it is the design work, you are right in that, and hopefully the gameplay. Otherwise bland textures and low polycounts do not impress me, even if the draw distance is far.

Actually, WoW comes pretty close, and wins not by far. WoW has similarly low poly counts, cartoon-ish textures and its only saving grace is gameplay and the great art deign from Blizzard. But WoW also has gloosy surfaces, better spell effects, light sources and a far larger draw distance.

All this is beside the point, because WoW istn the graphical standard in MMORPGs, take a look at EQ2 or Guild Wars, and you will see what I mean by poor PS2 graphics. I mean come on, the damn machine is like 7 years old, give it a break, dont expect it to be the best thing under the sun. Its time to cash that reality check, and its about time we see PS3. This game would have been best released on PS3 as a lauch title, give players a good MMORPG to sink their teeth into.

Buuut, Sega are lazy and take he easy way out. What else is new?
