http://www.capcom.co.jp/devil3/movie/jfes2005.mpg
And here is a combo video (low quality with no sound, but cool indeed) http://www.capcom.co.jp/devil3/movie/conbo_basic01.mpg |

March is going to present some tough decisions. For starts: Devil May Cry 3, God of War or Rise of the Kasai? Pretty similar games.

I'd go with DMC3 to start with. God of War looks interesting, but....not as...nice.
I suppose it all depends on your tastes.

OMG. THE Dr. Bombay has finally given in!
I remember you used to highly doubt DMC3. But I guess Capcom releasing a kickass demo 7 months before the game's release, and the combo video above plus trailer break the ice a little bit then. |

No no. I always said the gameplay looked great.
I just didn't like the whole...sephiroth-esque bishonen badboy angle they were going with Dante. I mean really, have you heard some of the english dialogue? Horrendous. The game bleeds style. It's just a question of whether or not you enjoy it's sort of style.

Red Ninja and Tenchu 4 are also coming in March.
I need to start finishing up my current crop of action games. |

Does the game have a storyline this time around? If its something in the lines of the first two, then i wont bother... i wont sell out to style alone. even if it plays good (and watching the seconf video it seems to have really improved)... I am bored of DMC and only a worthy plot can save it in my eyes.

A plot keeps you interested. Its of the essence (except in fighters). I wont live more than 2 hours doing the same fancy moves in an action game - there as to be a plot to keep it all together or ill grow bored. And thats been the worst problem of DMC to me.

A plot is there as an excuse for the gameplay. Doesn't really matter if it is "good" or "bad", IMO. Even the best stories in gaming are barely worth noticing.

Well, thats your opinion of course. Mine is different... a good plot can make a mid-tier game get a faithful following. For example Legacy of Kain. If not for the plot the game wouldnt be much. At the same time its inexistance can turn the same mid-tier game in a terrible experience, has is the case with DMC2.

I agree with Nem, a well-written plot will keep the game alive, and give me a reason to progress through the game. If the game doesn't have a good storyline, then I probably wont buy it. I bought Devil May Cry for only $20, so I didn't feel as cheated as I would have if I payed $50. It all comes down to a motive, a reason for me to keep on playing. Without a good plot, I wont have any interest in knowing what will happen next.

The game has interesting characters, set up, and Capcom actually has been saying in interviews that this game will have a good story. It's even in their press-release.
And Capcom never says that, even for their RPG's lol. There are almost 2 hours of cutscenes, I'm sure there is a story somewhere. It is based off of the Devil May Cry novel written in Japan...so we'll see. |
