That is kind of funny because I heard it got 10/9/9/10 from Famitsu off of IGN. I heard the only reason they gave it 9's was because the reviewers hate FPS. Let me see if I can find a link.

EDIT: a 10/9/9/9 from Famitsu according to IGN.http://xbox.ign.com/articles/562/562017p1.html

Famitsu has always had their heads up their asses when it comes to rating North American games. They'll give a "stalking simulation" like Roommania #201 10s, but there is no way in this world or the next that Roommania is a better game than Halo 2.

More like the defunct Next Generation magazine, but instead of docking the game points because it isn't using advanced 3d rendering techniques like NextGen did, Famitsu docks games points if they aren't Japanese. I've yet to see a non-Japanese game get a 10 in that rag. Famitsu is only good for 2 things: Seeing the newest upcoming games' screenshots, and for wrapping fish.

I think that Famitsu scores are fair they give every good game high and every bad game low thats why Famitsu give most US games low because they are not as good as the Japanese games
and most US games are FPS at least japan make alot of different genre

I admitt that there is alot of good US games but japan have more good games

PS:Famitsu may turn in to EGM2

You really need to take into consideration that Japan's taste in gaming is not the same as America's, and I'm sure that we've given some of their big hits the same treatment as they did to Halo 2. They obviously recognize that it's a good game, but they aren't that into it, and their different perspective on games can point out the flaws that we don't see.

Like how they rated Vagrant Story a 40/40, and most USA mags kinda just dismissed it with 8s and 9s. I mean, so what if Halo 2 got a "mere" 34/40 from them...at least they don't give their perfect scores away, unlike GTA San Andreas and Halo 2 both getting 10s this month.....

They do, in fact, give away high scores as if you take away their pen, they are gaming marks. They indeed to kiss the butt of many a franchiase and they believe the hype perhaps even more than the masses they shill to. They believe that any game with Final Fantasy attached onto it deserves no less than a 9. Games like VO:OT got a perfect score because they were basically shilling to the arcade gamer, when it was in fact a niche game with limited playability. Famitsu doesn't take all the particulars into account when rating a game. Pretty much, if it is a "most wanted" game, they will give it a high score to please the masses instead of on the strength of the gameplay itself. Halo 2 is a must have game if you are a fan of FPS games, and if they got reviewers that understood that (and contrary to popular belief, there are many Japanese FPS fans. I play Counter-Strike and UT 2k4 on a plethora of Japanese servers), then they would get 4 reviewers that would rate the game on the strength of the game from an FPS fan's point of view....or perhaps they did and subtracted 1-2pts per review because it wasn't made in Japan. And from what I have learned from peeping their scores for the past few years and the Japanese consumer reaction, anything less than a 36 would make it look like it was not worthy of an immediate buy.

Yeah, that's from " Famitsu Xbox, Japan's largest (and only) Xbox exclusive magazine." (From your link), which is seperate from the other Famitsu.

Which is the 'truth' with almost EVERY game mag out there.
Gee and all this time I thought Famitsu were the best reviewers!
