All those who doubt the DS's graphics=PWNED!!
Urban asphalt graphics look well beyond N64.That leaves me to wonder what the hell is namco doing with RR?Later down tha line i think we can see graphics that look like or very close to the dreamcast minus the wonderfull textures of the DC.
![]() this is pics from exibition of speed for DC,not to far ahead of urban asphalt...IMO ![]() anyone agree?

Well for a Dreamcast game it looks pretty poor. Not bad looking for a DS game though. I remember the N64 had a couple good looking racers. I think Lamborghini 64 was one of the top racers for it and it looked nice. I think another racer that was good featured some Volkswagen Beetles in it, I don't remember the title though.

I don't think anyone really doubted the DS's power, its only problem is textures, but when running at 30+ FPS it shouldn't matter that much. It's obvious that the DS can crank out more polygons than the 64 though, and games will look much much better in the next few generations.

It's certainly an improvement, but it's still doesn't look as good as the PSP version. It looks like a better looking N64 game, which isn't suprising.

That really doesn't seem anywhere beyond N64 quality to me. Face it, the DS has N64 quality graphics with lower resolution!

I don't rate graphics on shots alone (though if I did, I'd say they looked pretty good), but moreso on how they game looks while running.

I looks better then R-Racer. That's for sure. I found out today Nintendo is actually help making that game with Namco so maybe that's why it's so bad graphically.

LOL....Uhh, no.....those graphics didn't PWN me at all. I agree with Joe Redifer...graphically, the DS is a low-resolution n64.

The DS and N64 aren't that far apart, the difference is that the N64 had texture filtering which blurred stuff together and made your image appear shaper. However, the DS also runs its games at a far better framerate than the vast majority of N64 games. When you get a screen that size and see things moving around you aren't going to notice as many problems. Your PC monitor is certainly quite superior in its display than your DS screens are going to be, or even your PSP screen for that matter. I've seen few shots of games in the native DS resolution, and I have yet to see any direct movie caps in native resolution as well. Not to say you won't notice the texturing at all on the small screen, that would be dumb. However, you won't notice is as badly.
While I think RR could have been done better, there are some things involving the game that are rather nicely done. The tail light effects when you bump cars or when they pass you is still done on the DS version, so there are nice little effects that add to the game. Also remember Sony's comment on GT3 for PSP and what they would sacrafice for high quality visuals; did anyone bother to consider the fact that Urban Asphalt has only 8 cars on track at once, while Ridge Racer has 12?

Looks ok. Ridge Racer for PSP looks better though. I don't think this looks better than an N64, not yet anyway. No way does this match games like Zelda and Diddy Kong Racing.
