Famitsu Sales: 11/18/19 11/24/19 - Shenmue III didn't reach number one

Shemue III doesn't do well in Japan -- where are the supporters, are they mainly in the west?

Famitsu has published its estimated physical game software and hardware sales data for Japan for the week of November 18, 2019 to November 24, 2019.

Shenmue III for PlayStation 4 was the best selling new release last week, opening at 17,857 retail copies sold. It was not the top seller of the week, however, with Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield for Switch maintaining its number one position following its launch the previous week with an additional 382,540 units.

On the hardware side, the Switch family sold a massive 179,992 units, the PlayStation 4 family sold 7,073 units, and the 3DS family sold 1,073 units.

Guess they need to release on switch for japan to care.

Dunno if its cause of digital, but the japanese market seems smaller every year.

Anyways, it would be great if SEGA went back to the publisher table with Shenmue 4. It would be so much better if they had the help of the Yakuza team.

Shenmue in reality is a very niche game, that's why is was so dumb when you do last minute bs with your publisher by screwing up you backers wich at the end are your most hardcore fans and the people that made posible this.

Hopefully this becomes a lesson that developers and publishers take note before doing underhanded things with crowdfunding.
