Woman kills baby at internet cafe

Quote:
A SOUTH Korean woman has been detained for allegedly killing her baby who was born while she was playing online games.

Police said the 26-year-old gave birth while at an internet cafe in Seoul on March 25. She allegedly put the infant in a plastic bag, sealed it and dumped it in a nearby parking lot.

The woman had visited internet cafes almost daily, police said.

"She was playing games until right before she gave birth in the cafe's bathroom," a police spokesman in the city's Songpa district said.

"She didn't even know her waters had broken."

Police said the woman was being held in a state nursing facility and would face trial for infanticide.

There have been other reports of deaths related to internet game addiction in South Korea, one of the world's most wired societies.

In 2010 a mother killed her three-year-old son while she was tired from playing games online. Also in 2010, a 15-year-old boy committed suicide after killing his mother for scolding him over excessive playing of computer games.

A 41-year-old man was sentenced to two years in prison in the same year after he and his wife left their baby daughter to die at home of malnutrition while they were in internet cafes.

Official figures estimate there are two million internet addicts in South Korea.

The government has adopted a "Cinderella" law to ban youngsters from playing online games past midnight as concern grows about internet addiction.

Make life more interesting and there wouldn't be Internet addiction. I think life needs levels and experience points and stuff like that, and achievements. God needs to patch in achievements to real life. It would just make the world a better place.

Its such a sick story. I do wonder what game she was playing. It doesn't even matter.. parents are supposed to love their kids. This person had some serious issues.

Not to make a point or anything, but did people ever kill their kids while playing in the arcade? Probably not. In the arcade there are more people looking around and doing stuff. Internet cafes are dark rooms with desks and personal computers.

Crazy stuff like this always happens with PC online addiction, never with consoles. It's always with MMO's you hear about people pooing in buckets while playing, because they don't have the time to eat or going to the toilet.

There is obviously something mental about them. Nobody in their right mind would want to even sit at a computer all day. Your ass would go numb!

Or too lazy to do it. Or the game was too addictive. I once played Suikoden almost two days straight but always takes a food, drink and pee. Sometimes stretching my body too.

There's much more to life than the internet and video games: reading, art, music, sports, martial arts, Charles Bronson movies, etc.

you know, that is simply amazing. the sheer and utter stupidity of humans. even in my early gaming years six hours was my limit and if i did exceed that time frame i didn't play for a day or two excessive gaming makes the hobby dull. what game were they playing to cause them to be so neglecting? each play must have came with free bath salts.
