There isn´t much news anyway, and it´s true that the arcade output haven´t been in the glory days when companies like Data East where around and such. So I'll be compiling all the interesting titles into 1 thread.

UPCOMING TITLES

[FIGHTER]Under Night In-Birth (French Bread - JAP)

New fighter from the Melty Blood folk, unfortunately doesn't have much of a chance to have a release in the west.

[TURRET SHOOTER]Dark Escape 3D/4D (Namco - US, EU, JAP)

Namco's lattest offering on the turret shooter craze (mounted guns, no reload, rapid fire, more enemy grunts on screen) let's go jungle started, using a modified Deadstorm Pirates cab, has a heartbeat censor to see which player was a bigger wuss at the end of a stage, and 3d glasses (3d can be turned off). Has a bit of a Saw theme, as the players where kidnapped by a masked man who communicates through a TV screen, and he offers them a challenge or something, they may live if they escape his experimental horror house. Location test in a Chicago arcade next month apparently

This game has an alternative cab called Dark Escape 4D which is a HOTD4 Special rip off. Added shakes, steam, blowing air, and stuff to enchance the experience. But with 2 extra players as well, making the game a 4 player coop. Apparently this version was so popular at GTI Asia Taipei Expo 2012, that people paid entrance to just play this game, which explains the overtly huge que it had in Taipei.

[RUN & GUN]Contra: Evolution Revolution (Konami China - CHINA/TAIWAN only)

Remake of the Famicom/NES version of Contra, with 2 new female characters, exclusive to China

[THIRDPERSON SHOOTER]Gunslinger Stratos (Square Enix - JAP)

Third person shooter of the arena type that uses lightguns to control, looks interesting, As you can mount the lightguns into different position to get different weapons or moves or whatever

[RACING/FIGHTING]Super Speed Transforming Gyrozetter (Square Enix - JAP)

Racing game fighting game hybrid that transforms the cab according to what happens on the screen, if it's a racing game or a fighting game

[BELT SCROLL ACTION]Knights of Valor 3 (IGS - CHINA/TAIWAN)

Newest installmentin IGS's KOV series, lot of sprite rehashes for grunts, but the boss fights has some exciting new ones. Like the huge dragon vehicle (at the end of the first video). But this release is seriously gimped, 1 coin gives you 999 seconds of play and you need a card or else you won't access stage 4-5. Better wait for the upgrade that will hopefully fix this bullshit.

KOV 3 is interesting. Luckily IGS cabinet can be play by emulator.

So annoying I'll never get to play any of these. Especially Gunslinger, looks way fun. Those 2D ones though will definitely get emulated so theres some hope there.

I'm interested in that Contra remake. KOV looks ok but lacks polish. It's good to see the arcade scene can survive in this day and age. Arcades > Online MP.

I still want my holographic Space Harrier.

Yeah we have some arcade down here in Cali that keep it crackin. I am sure I will Night under game eventually some way some how.

I want to play KoV

I contacted an online Japanese arcade distributor about the Tekken Tag 2 arcade coin-op and they responded with a 6k range for the LCD mounted display.

Plus; most arcades are privately owned so the profit is heavily dependent on the community. Versus places like California, where the developing studios have drinking parties, tournaments, and social events. lol The last thing I heard around here was a DragonQuest IX DS tournament at Best Buy.

I'd like to see more events come to other states, but I highly doubt it will happen.

There's a time and place for everything. When you are in a Tokyo arcade, you should play video games, not with yourself. Common courtesy, folks!

According to Final Round organizer Scott Popular, one male gamer seems to have confused his joystick with an arcade one.

Recently, Popular was at Shibuya Kaikan, one of Tokyo's most famous arcades. He popped in to play some Marvel vs. Capcom 2. Absorbed in watching the game, Scott said he didn't notice what was happening nearby at first. "It took me like 5 minutes to visually realize and process that dood was just standing there jackin' his shit," said Scott. That's because, well, masturbation isn't exactly something you expect to encounter at your local arcade.

Even though the fellow gamers pretended not to notice, arcades aren't your private space for you to choke your chicken. Other people use those machines, so gross, ick, stop it. The man (above, caught red handed) was eventually told to leave the arcade.

But what game was he masturbating to? The King of Fighters XIII: Climax. That's no joke.

Just wondering if Magicbox members visit arcade's and which one they visit.

We have a private arcade here in the Netherlands that'll cost 39 euros membership fee a year, but there's no coin slots.

It's updated with the latest arcade games changing all the time, members put their own cabs in their. Naomi cabs, japanese sitdown cabs (Taito & co), 40 inch vertical mega Cave shooter set up, 50x50 inch screen with console hooked to it etc.

All the proper arcades closed down in my area cause they were run by idiots. I miss the days of KOF94-98 tournaments.
