My PC is a POS

Literally, my pc sux. Here are my specs:

Windows XP
AOPEN 2200+ghz with AMD processor (shows up as 1.62 ghz)
on board sound and graphics processing (sound is good, graphics is ass)
128 mb DDR ram (shows up as 96mb)
Desktop 1024X769 32 bit color
20 gig hd
TDK 48X cd burner (used to have a usb dvd burner)
DSL connection

I can still do some damage with my pc, but these specs suck. I for one, am getting tired of waiting through 20 second to 5 minute load times on my pc. I know I need more ram, but I'm sure I may need a new video card and other stuff. Can anyone suggest some decent pc parts for decent prices?

What the hell are you doing using 128mb with windows XP. It takes that much just to make the stupid OS THINK of loading.

If you are after cheap parts that you dont want to spend alot of money on, I'd recomment the following, although remember, to enjoy games you need to spend a bit of money. Its also for the long run, not to be happy for 2 months. Anyway heres some specs that should keep you happy for about...6months or so.

AMD 2.8gig
512mb DDR
ATI 9800pro
Any motherboard that can use amd chipset.

Basically the above should set you back no more then $300 or so. Thats the LOWEST I would recomment. Idealy you shouldnt be buying anything below a 3.2gig AMD cpu, 1gig DDR ram should be your target, and if you plan to go ATI you should be going for either the X700 or X800. The better you upgrade, the less money you spend next time you upgrade and the better the upgrade will be because of it. But thats your call on how much you want to spend and if you aren't a 100% console whore. The game variety is very different. If you arent a big fan of PC games, go the first choice I mentioned. Although I dont think you would of played too many considering the specs you have at the moment. Aaah I'm going off on a tangeant. Heres a site for you to go crazy on at your hearts content.

Your PC is god compared to mine...

Windows 98
300MHz Intel Pentium
96 MB RAM
Desktop 1024x769
7.3 GB HD
Cable Connection

No USB or PS/2 ports either, I have to use some like, spliters and converters for a keyboard and mouse.

my comp also laughs enviously:

p2 500 mhz HP pavilion
16 mb TNT 2 (w/s-video out !!!)
Sb audigy
128 mB
40gB- haha only 5gB used due to tendency to crash during downloads
win 2k - but not sp2 as installing it makes the comp crash
also, browsing crashes the computer, and listening to music, sometimes just starting it up, too
it just turned 5 a couple weeks ago

You know less people would label the PC as not having any good games worth playing, if they actually had decent PCs to begin with. It's a whole new world out there. Not a big mirror held up to one console, different label, same style of games. No, PC games are in a league of their own. If you dont do some form of upgrade to your PC once every year or two at the most, you should be slapping yourself upside the head daily till you get it done. Now off with you!

I started playing Deus Ex again on my new computer.

It's interesting though. If you play using AC power, the game goes into overdrive and the frame rate jumps to 100 FPS. But this makes the game exceptionally difficult to play. But on battery, it's fine, and it looks phenominal.

I can play Doom 3 at 1024 on high. But I don't want to. Because Doom 3 is annoying and stupid.

if your going to do anything to fix up your computers....get some RAM!!!
128mb ram on WinXP......woah lol, you atleast need 256mb to run it nice, 512mb is pretty much standard to have though.

bah. Dont play games on it.. What sort of rubbish is that. If you play games on your console then you should be playing games on your PC.
