Square Enix on Dragon Quest IX for smartphones, Dragon Quest X offline version

Don't really care about the StreetPass in DQ9, I never used it, why do they think it's critical? I'd love to see an offline version of DQ10, so is offline FFXIV.

Square Enix on Dragon Quest IX for smartphones, Dragon Quest X offline version

Yuu Miyake wants to tell MMORPG's stories to overseas players.

The topics of a smartphone version of Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies and an offline version of Dragon Quest X came up during the “Chou Dragon Quest X TV: Fall no Bunkasai 10-Hour Special 2018” held today in Japan.

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies for Smartphones

According to Dragon Quest series executive producer Yuu Miyake, the StreetPass functionality of the 3DS version of Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies, which was one of the main reasons it was such a big hit, has become a bottleneck in the production of a smartphone version, as it is difficult to reproduce on smartphones. However, convenient tools have recently been introduced that give hope to the development of a smartphone version, with Miyake saying, “I’m starting to see us being able to do it.”

Be that as it may, completely reproducing the StreetPass functionality of the 3DS version would seemingly be difficult, as Miyake said that “it wouldn’t be in the same form as DS or 3DS.” As for whether the prospect of offering a similar experience has come up, Miyake said, “I’m starting to see us being able to do something.” Miyake also mentioned that with the Dragon Quest series lineup on smartphones being as substantial as it is, he would like Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies to join.

Offline Version of MMORPG Dragon Quest X

Former Dragon Quest X producer Yosuke Saito, who stepped down from the position on August 25, said, “Even within the traditional Dragon Quest series, Dragon Quest X is packed with excellent stories,” then added, “Talk of an offline version often comes up, and I don’t think the possibility is zero. It would be great if we could introduce it to fans to play somewhere.”

Miyake followed up on Saito, explaining that “Overseas, Dragon Quest X has not been released” and “There are people going from Dragon Quest VIII to XI because 3DS is not as prevalent overseas.” Miyake showed a strong desire to develop an offline version of the game, saying, “Since Dragon Quest X has tons of rich stories, I would like to make something that can tell those stories, including to players overseas.”

Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies is currently available for 3DS worldwide, while Dragon Quest X is available for PlayStation 4, Switch, Wii U, 3DS, and PC in Japan.

lol the writer just isn't honest at all.

DQ9 was for the DS, not the 3DS. It completely puts a hole in his theory. He should've just asked for DQX outright.

With that said, an MMO's offline version would be a bit odd. Maybe he means a remake/repackage of some sort into a single player game.

Actually you can play DQX offline but for a limited time then locks up for several hours.

I always thought that X was a waste as an mmo and that it was s-e stubbornness to not acknowledged that it was a failure that led them to port it to every console posible.
