You see one gundam series, you've seen them all.

Even Turn A gundam just turned into the rest, it was the only one I was interested in cause it sounded like it was going to be different than I watched it.......

8th ms team is the best gundam. Short, sweet, realistic depiction of war (OMG PEOPLE GET HURT AND DIE?!? SHOCKU!!!)

00 is pretty good thus far, or it was until the trinity came.
The trinity killed 00.

Yeah, but there have been some other problems.

Namely the 18 hours straight of absorbing bullets...
Exia not dodging anything when Setsuna is angry. I mean whats the point of even fighting these guys at the moment? Atleast the older Gundams made it feel like if the pilots screwed up there would be penalties. The new ones just have you wait for the enemy to get an overpowered weapon as well.

Infact thats where the problem lies. All the standard mobile suits are just there to get blown up, as if the audience wouldn't watch the show if something didn't get destroyed.

They're trying to put more emphasis on the abilities of the pilots rather than the suits themselves. The gundams aren't win buttons, several times each gundam has nearly been captured by something stupid done by the pilots. Furthermore, pilots from all three major factions have come very close to downing a gundam, the flag fighters having come closest by actually maiming one of the trinity gundams.

Now that every faction is getting a solar generator and can keep up with the technological advances the gundams have, things should get a lot more interesting.

But the Trinity sucks and they need to die slowly. In a fire.

The problem with that is, the pilots are making a ton of mistakes. And in the earlier shows, these mistakes would have cost them their mobile suit. But its not the case anymore. Somehow they get out of it, usually relying on the ridiculous features of their suits.

And the trinity are terrible.

Being tired of this new gundam shit, and by new I mean completely indestructible robots from space, I sat down to watch a classic.

MS Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory.
In direct comparison with Gundam 00, 0083 managed to have just as much emotional (emo) character development as 00, needing only 13 episodes to do so (00 has 19 released thus far) and having way more intense combat at the same time. The intense combat stems partially from the fact that the Gundams are treated as advanced mobile suits instead of Gods, but also becuase the direction of the show is much better.
The Same can be said about Char's Counterattack, and 8th MS Team as well.

And another thing that is infinitively better about old shows are their opening and ending themes.
I experienced that with The Guyver series.

The original had much better art and the fight scenes were a lot more intense and well staged. The remake disappointed me big time, just watched it to get more of the story.

Yeah the original was a lot better, except for the fact it stopped in the middle of nowhere. The characters were better in the new one, but only because they had more time to flesh things out.

Anyone else seen Appleseed Ex Machina?

I wasn't very impressed with the one released in 2004, the characters looked like ass.

I thought overall this one was much better, everything looked great and the plot was enjoyable too. Really liked the stronger focus on Briarios.

Didn't know it was out. The first one was pretty bad, but the visuals were awesome. (The character design wasn't that bad, not not as great as everything else either)

I thought the last Appleseed was overshadowed by Wonderful Days (embarrassingly so).

I'll watch this one if I can rent it on BR.

Not the actual design of the characters, but the way they used the cell shading on them. The technique I thought really sucked.

I actually started watching Ex Machina with a very 'meh' attitude because of the last one but slowly started getting into and ended up really enjoying it, don't think I have enjoyed an anime movie since Steamboy (which I effing loved).
