Nomura: ‘Various developments being considered to accompany Final Fantasy VII Remake’

I don't think the compilation titles will be out until the FF7 30th anniversary

Nomura: ‘Various developments being considered to accompany Final Fantasy VII Remake’

"If we can manage to do something about the Compilation titles..."

At a closed event for The World Ends with You: Final Remix held on October 30, producer Tetsuya Nomura answered various fan questions. One of them was simply, “I want to play Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII again!”

Nomura responded, “Not everyone may know this, but I’m remaking Final Fantasy VII… (laughs). Right now I’m concentrating on Kingdom Hearts III, but when that’s finished, VII will be where I head next. I’m thinking about ideas regarding the remake’s release—I even spoke to producer Kitase about it today. All of us old-timers are considering various developments in regards to what accompanies the remake. Like if we can manage to do something about the Compilation [of Final Fantasy VII] titles too. But for the time being, please wait for VII‘s turn to come.”

Nomura is the director of both Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy VII Remake. The former was announced at E3 2013 and will finally be released in January 2019. The latter was announced at E3 2015 and is without a release date. The Compilation of Final Fantasy VII mentioned by Nomura is a series of titles set in the world of Final Fantasy VII, including the mobile game Before Crisis: Final Fantasy VII, movie Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, PlayStation 2 game Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII, PSP game Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, and more. It seems that Nomura is suggesting there may be some sort of resurgence of these titles with the release of Final Fantasy VII Remake.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is in development for PlayStation 4.

You know... given how FFXV (v13) worked out, i prefer if they take their sweet time, but deliver a really good product. That is Nomuras modus operandi, but i do prefer that to having more "hold the button" kind of games.

Wait... they want to remake/port the compilation? That is a great idea actually. I got Crisis core, but i never got around to playing it and these days the PSP is like a filthy thing. I'll take a PS4 port. With that said, what turned me away was that mission design they loved to do for PSP games. Makes it so boring. :/
