AOL Now Offically Free

As long as you bring your own bandwith.

I knew they were planning on doing this for a very long time, but it seems that today, they finally got around to doing away witht he montly fee for good.

So if you ever wanted to try it, now you can.

Probably that if you pay for broadband or some form of non-AOL dial up, you are free to use the AOL frontend service/browser at no charge.

Right. Say you have cable internet. As long as you use that for your bandwith, you can connect to AOL via TCP/IP free of charge.

But I always hear AOL sucks. What's the advantage of using them if you paying for someone else?

Same advantage as using yahoo.com. AOL service has a bunch of stuff attached with it like 5 gigs of online stoage space, chat rooms, buddy list, etc etc etc. None of which was worth 20 bucks a month before, but is nice to have free now.

For this to work, you can't be using AOL as your ISP. Lets say you use Comcast Cable Internet service already. Now AOL is free for you to destroy your computer with.
